Johannesburg: In the penultimate Final FIFA Soccer match that was played at the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg, Spain achieved its long cherished dream of winning the World Cup by becoming the champions defeating equally capable rivals, the Netherlands by a solitary goal..There was ecstasy among the Spanish players and their supporters where as there was absolute agony among the Netherlands players and their supporters.
Spain played extremely well in this tournament and they truly deserved to win. On the other hand, Dutch team too played equally well, but the luck did not favour the Dutch team. Spain and Netherlands started the match and played aggressively. Both the teams did not give a chance to each other to score. The first 90 minutes of the game has ended up with no goals scored from each side. During the last phase of the extra time of 30 minutes, Andres Iniesta brought out the wonder of the game and has done it for Spain! He scored the all important goal 116th minute of the game to give their team the best win ever.
By winning the first ever FIFA Soccer World Cup Spain emerged as the 8th soccer team to win the World Cup. Octopus Paul had the last laugh as all the predictions that he had made in this World Cup Tournament have proved to be correct.

I had the privilege of being in Spain to watch the final game. After the historic win, the cities exploded in joy and merrymaking. At Pamplona, where I was on the night, the streets filled with drinking and dancing people..a double occasion, San Fermin and the Copa del Mundo.. | |

Spain deserved to win this world cup because of their excellent team work. This is their first world cup in 80 years of world cup history. They could have won by bigger margin if they had made use of some easy open chances. Holland too wasted many easy scoring chances they had. Thanks to Dr. Eugene for the quick update. |
