Udupi, 25 Dec 2012: Christmas Eve Mass was celebrated in the Holy Cross Church Pamboor on December 24 at 7:00pm. Before the Eucharistic Mass the church Choir sang Christmas Carols. The Holy Mass started at 7:35pm Rev.Fr. Henry Alva (OFM-Cap) was the main celebrant and Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis, parish priest was the co- celebrant of the Eucharistic Mass. When the choir sang “Glory to God ..” hymn the church bells rang which marked the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
Rev.Fr.Henry Alva started the sermon by singing the hymn sung before reading the Gospel which gave a different feeling to the occasion. Then he narrated a story “During the Second World War the German soldiers were tired of fighting and prayed to God to end the war so that they could go home and spend time with their families.. and on 25th December God blessed them and at 12:00am they took candles in their hands instead of guns and they marched to the streets singing “We wish you a Merry Christmas..” When they reached the camp of American soldiers they were surprised and they too joined them. He further added, Christmas is a festival of joy and we should be happy always and gave his wishes to all.
After the Mass, Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis extended the Christmas greetings to all. The church magazine “Kursaacho Taalo” was released and the copies were distributed by Rev.Fr.Henry Alva. Hundreds of parishioners attended the mass and ICYM Pamboor organized a entertainment program after the mass.
