Karkala, 07 September 2012: The children are being taught to grow economically, but the education system has failed to transform them into good citizens. The education produces intelligent persons; even those accused in the terrorism activities recently were all highly educated! The children need education with moral and cultural values, the teachers need to be active in this direction, and the teachers need to have the innocence of a child and a heart of a mother, said Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple Degree College Principal Prof. M. Balakrishna Shetty. He was speaking in the felicitation program to teachers organized by Karkala Taluk Teachers Day Celebration Committee on Thursday.
Karkala MLA Gopala H. Bhandary who presided over the function spoke and said that, closing of the Kannada medium schools is a mistake of the law from the government and it is not the fault of the teachers. As fast as the Kannada Schools are closing, the English medium schools are opening, which is unfortunate. The teachers of Udupi District are honest and they have maintained the first position for the Udupi district today.
