Udupi: Teachers, Schools Honoured on Teacher’s Day for dedicated service

Udupi, 06 September 2012: Only teachers can shape the children into literate, knowledgeable and most importantly into good persons, which the teachers have been doing very well today. In spite of various problems; the teachers are shaping them into good citizens with the sacrifices and efforts, which is really appreciable, said District In Charge Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary. He was speaking upon inaugurating the Udupi District level Teachers Day celebration organized in Shyamili Auditorium on Wednesday.
Speaking further he said that, with the intention that even a child of a very poor also should take advantages of the education, BJP government has reserved rupees 15.71 crores for education. Free uniform, accommodation, food and other fecilities are being provided for government school children. But still the number of students joining the government school is being decreased, he said.
Delivering the special lecture on the occasion, renowned litterateur Nadoja Professor K S Nissar Ahmed called upon teachers to bridge the gap of hatredness among the students and help them out to develop healthy bonding with each other. He said that, in the society teachers have a high position and special respect. In order to have a overall development of the country, the teachers will have to guide the students in the right path and most importantly they should be brought up with a feeling of cooperation in verities of things.
He lamented that the nation is shattered with hatredness and some vested interests are misusing religion to break down the nation. “We are moving away from the general idea of “live and let live” policy that in fact provides harmonious culture. All religions are one and the preaching of all religions symbolises humanity. Sarcastically, the country which preached great spirituality to entire world is now facing catastrophe in the name of spirituality, Dharma and religion. In this backdrop, teachers do have major role to play, he said.
He also stressed that Kannada language should be conserved with all its spirit and people should adopt Kannada as life source. All other languages can be sentinel and not a substitute to Kannada language. A child can pick up lessons more effectively if he or she is taught in the mother tongue, he said and added Kannada is one language that has wonderful literature that bonds people through devotion and sensitivity, he said.
The program was presided over by MLA Raghupathi Bhat. Zilla Panchayath President Katpadi Shankara Poojary, Entrepreneur G. Shankar, Taluk Panchayath President K. Devadasa Hebbar, Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon, Zilla Panchayath Officer S.A. Prabhakara Sharma and Zilla Panchayath Member Ida Gibba D’Souza were present on the occasion.
Vidyanga Deputy Director S. Nagendra Madhyasta welcomed the guests and the gathering. Shivapuri Government High School Teacher Yashoda compeered the program. Education Officer S. Vasantha Shetty proposed vote of thanks. On this occasion the teachers who were selected for district level award were felicitated. The schools that scored 100 percent results in SSLC exams were also honoured.
