Manipal, 24 Aug 2012: The hospitals are supposed to be saving life and secure health of patients however an incident has surfaced in Udupi District that where hospitals are  real cause to spread the H1N1 decease than curing.

 

In the Udupi District this year 38 cases of H1N1 cases were reported. Out of these two are succumbed to death. Shockingly, out of these, 36 cases have been spread deliberately by two Private Hospitals!

 

This shocking news was revealed by none other than District Health and Family Welfare officer Dr. Ramachandra Bayari. This was disclosed during the Development Inspection Meeting held by Health and Family Wellfare Minister Mr. Aravinda Limbavalli on Thursday.

 

 

The H1N1 disease has been spread from the two patients admitted to these two hospitals to other patients.  On learning this shocking incident these patients were immediately treated and cured and they have been sent home said the Health officer.

 

In 2010 there were 81 cases of H1N1 reported.  Out of these 41 from within the district and 40 from outside district were admitted to KMC hospital in Manipal.  In 2011, there were 18 cases reported, 6 from within the district and 12 from out the district.  Due to these patients from outside district the name of the Udupi District has been spoiled – said the Health Officer.

 

The Dengue fever arrived from Bangalore

This year 36 Dengue Fever cases have been reported.  Out of these only 4 are from Udupi District and the remaining arrived from outside the district.  In other cases reported, 20 in Bangalore, 3 in Mangalore and other cases were from other districts of the state said Dr. Bayari.

 

On Maternity Hospitals!

In the Udupi District, almost 100% deliveries are performed in either Private Maternity or Government hospitals.  There are only 0.8% death of new born and only 0.3% of mother’s death during the delivery he clarified.

 

There are 3 cases of Rat Fever have been reported in the district and they have been completely cured.  Malaria is being under control and most of the cases were spread from labourers from the outside districts.   On this issue a meeting has been arranged with the builders and will be discussed this issue to solve the problem.

 

On Inspection of Students

There are possibilities of spread of contagious disease by many students arriving at Manipal and Nitte educations institutions and hence all the students must be checked.  The Health Minister advised District Health Officer to make arrangements and order all educational institutions of the district to get them tested thoroughly.

 

The Health Minister gave orders to cancel permission to any builders that do not help to control the Malaria of their workers, give notice to the Private Hospitals of Udupi and Manipal that was the reason to spread H1N1 and make arragements to test all students for any contagious disease by visiting each house.

 

During the meeting Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhatt, District Officer Dr. M.T. Reju, JIPAM CEO Prabhakara Sharma, District President Kiran Kumar, District Surgeon Anand Nayak were present.
