M’lore: 65th Independence Day celebrated at Infant Jesus Shrine

Mangalore, 15 August 2012: It is a day of double celebration for Catholics in India. India, our Motherland was freed from the clutches of the British and thus attained its political liberation. Blessed Virgin Mary after completing her life on earth was assumed into Heaven Body and soul. That’s the feast of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary which Catholics commemorate today whole over the world. Faithful in great number participated in both these celebration held at Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore.
After the Eucharist, all gathered to celebrate the 65th Independence Day of our Country with honour and devotion. Mrs. Gretta Rebello, Corporater, hoisted the Trirung. Speaking on the occasion she recalled the valuable price our freedom fighters had to pay in order to liberate our Mother Country. She appealed the gathering to work strenuously to realize the Swarajya or the Ideal State which our freedom fighters dreamt of.
