Shirva: ‘History of Southern Saraswaths’ book released

Shirva, 27 February 2012: There is mention about the Saraswaths in the Skandapurana, this community has grown through the Rushi cultures. Having great devotion in teachers and God and along with the Indian culture have continued Veidik cultures also, opinioned N. Yogish Bhat. He was speaking as the chief guest during the program for releasing the Kannada translated book ‘History of Southern Saraswaths’ and felicitation of the translator Kutpadi Ramakrishna Hegde of Mumbai in Udyavara Veera Vittala Temple hall. The program was jointly organized by United Gowda Saraswatha Sabha Chennai, Shree Veera Vittala Temple and Shri Shubhodaya Trust Udayavara.
Upon releasing the book, Karnataka Konakani Sahitya Academy President Kasargod Chinna spoke and said that, Saraswaths are multi-talented, but have now failed in transferring the culture, language, literature, music and drama to our children. The books are to be studied and the work of transferring this to the future generation has to take place, he said.
Presiding over the function Prasara Bharati former President and Journalist M.V. Kamath said that, the traditions of the Saraswaths is world famous and people of this community have settled in various corners of the world. Everyone should read the history and the elders should give the information on our culture and history to the children along with the language, he said.
Other guests present on the dias were, D.K. District Temple Association President K. Radhakrishna Shenoy and United Gowda Saraswatha Sabha Chennai Secretary C.J. Nayak. Veera Vittala Temple Managing Trustee Nagesh Kamath welcomed and at the end also proposed vote of thanks. Ratna Acharya compeered the program. A.M. Hegde coordinated. In the program senior person Pangala Rabindra Nayak was present.
