Malpe, 26 February 2012: A rare reality took place in the western sky on Friday. Planet was very close to moon. Poornaprajna Amateur Astronomers club (PAAC) of Poornaprajna College Udupi had made arrangements to view this in the evening at 6.00 pm. They had mobilized 3 latest telescopes. About 300 – 400 interested people had come there. Pejavar Mutt Junior Seer Shree Vishwaprasanna Theertha himself had come. Municipal Commissioer Gokuldas Nayak also was present.
But as it became evening the clouds covered the planet in the western sky. People could see the moon, but could not see the planet. Though the people were disappointed, through the 3 powerful telescopes it became possible to see the planet.
Dr. A.P. Bhat, Prof. of Physics P.P.C., Dr. A.P. Bhat, Prof. Shridhara Hande, Dr. Pramodh Shetty, Dr. Vyasa Upadya, Ramadasa Prabhu explained and showed the amazing sky view to the interested people who were gathered there through the 6 inch and 12 inch telescopes. Hundreds of people from all over the state who were interested but could not see due to the clouds had phoned Dr. Bhat.
But Dr. Bhat has said that there is no need for anybody to get disappointed, because the planet will be visible in 23 degree to moon until 15th March. So when there is no clouds all these planets Venus, Jupiter and Mars can be seen until 15th March, he said.
