Bunts Dubai and Dolphin RAK ACE Spikers Triumph in Karaval Milan Tourney

Sharjah, 28 January 2012: Karaval Milan an association of 19 parishes of Kalianpur and Kundapur deanery had planned this day being the perfect day to hold an open tournament of Throw ball and Volleyball , inviting all Kannadiga teams of U.A.E at the Wonderers Club in Sharjah. Karaval Milan introduced mixed throw ball consisting of men and women players as a special attraction of the tournament. Large crowds gathered to witness the best teams fight each other to clinch the top honour and they were nail biting finishes. Bunts Dubai managed to win over Konkans Dubai in Ladies Throwball match in well fought match while the Dolphin RAK ACE Spikers took away Volley ball championship from Chilly Willy Youngsters Nakre and the Bunts Dubai defeated KCO Abudhabi to lift the maiden mixed throw ball trophy.

 

The event began early in the morning and enthusiastic participants were all set for the launch of the event and the club was filled with eager spectators from all Emirates. Breakfast was served for the participants and audience before the start of the event.

 

The inaugural ceremony began at 9.00 AM with Gilbert Aranha making his early morning announcement inviting all the teams (12 teams in Men’s Volley ball, 6 teams in Throw ball and 10 teams in Mixed Throw ball), to form a line around in front of the dais. The president of Karaval Milan Eric D’Souza escorted the guests to the dais. Janet Sequeira welcomed the gathering and briefed about importance of organizing this day long tournament. Roney Byndoor and group  sang prayer song Jai Jagadishwara.

 

Precilla Saures and Stanly Saures took the oath on behalf of the sport persons. Rikitha Pereira who is studying in 9th standard had made big name in Tennis was invited  to  inaugurate the sports by lighting the torch and colourful balloons were release by the dignitaries present on dais. National anthems of UAE and India were played.

 

Throw ball teams from Mangalore Konkans, Shrajah stars.,Bunts Dubai and KCO Abudhabi were then invited to begin the first match. All the matches were keenly contested by all teams with true sportsman spirit. The organizers made sure that the matches went on as scheduled with their organizing capabilities without any hassle. In the morning session league matches were conducted.

The afternoon delicious lunch buffet was served by Das Prakash Restaurant, Karama. Also the snacks counters were serving the delicious food throughout the day. Afternoon session started with fiercely fought semifinals between Mangalore Konkans & Konkans Dubai and Bunts Dubai & Kanarites.

 

The prominent personalities and sponsors including  Alfred Dsouza of CAB Real Estate,  Lancy Madtha of Integrated Freight Systems, Joseph Mathais of Merit Freight Systems,  Marina Menezes, Wilma D’Souza of Daijiworld.com, Stany D’Silva of Magnetic, Gilbert Aranha, Noel D’Almeida, Wilson D’Sa of Berry Floor and Eric D’Souza president of Karaval Milan were present for the concluding ceremony Roney Byndoor the master of ceremony of the programme  thanked all sponsors, well wishers, media representatives, participating teams and the referees were felicitated.

 

Sudhakar Alva, Dancy Menezes, Clara, Sreemathi Hawaldar ,Moideen  and team were officiated the tournament in a excellent manner. He also thanked members of organizing committee and finally to all spectators without their support the tournament would not have been possible. He also rendered special thanks to Gilbert Aranha for ably conducting and emceeing the whole day tournament and he received a big round of applause.

 

Also the day was fulfilled fun with the spectacular commentary by Vinod Shetty Udupi, and others. Raffle ticket draw was held and prizes were distributed to the winners. Earlier unsold tickets were auctioned and the some of the well wishers bought all the tickets in the auction.

 

At the concluding ceremony the trophies were distributed to winning teams and also individual medals were given to all finalists and semi finalists by the sponsors and prominent personalities.

Karaval Milan has arranged glittering trophies of which the winners and the runners-up. Other than that the winning teams were felicitated with cash prizes of Dhs.1,000/- each.  Various other special games were conducted for children to keep them busy during tournament and also gave away the special prizes.

 

It is really appreciable the spirits of all the members of Karaval Milan who have put in all their efforts behind the successful tournament under the leadership of Eric D’Souza.The whole day the events concluded around 7.00 pm.
