Post-centenary Silver Jubilee Cross at Kelmbet

Shirva, 09 November 2011: The  Mangalore Diocese’s  Post-centenary Silver Jubilee Cross was received at St.John Bosco Church,  Kelmbet on the 6 November 2011 at 4.15 pm from Belman parish.  It was a great feeling to see a huge congrigation from the Belman parish along with the Priest of the parish and religious marching toword the Kelmbet parish compound in a prayereful spirit.  The braz band gave it a high tone to the celebration.

 

Kelmbet parish priest Fr.Peter Pinto SDB along the the vice president Mr.Peter D’souza  and the P.P.P members received the cross in the presence of the parishnors.  A short prayer sevice was organized which was followed by Holy Mass for which main celebrant was Fr.Anil SVD.  Who preached a touching homly on the holiness of the Cross.

 

The cross remained in the Parish for two days.  On the 7 November 2011there was Mass at 3.30pm.  Fr.Cyril D’Souza SVD was the main celebrant.  He in his homily touched upon the graces that we can receive from the Cross.  On the 8 November 2011 at 3pm there was Rosary of the Divine Mercy and at 3.30pm the Cross was taken on an open vehicle to Mundkur Parish.

 

 

All events took place in a very prayereful spirit.  Many generous people came forward to sponser band, vehicles, flowers and saw to the othere expencess of the event.

 

It was an event where graces and blessing from the Lord flowed down on the parish and its faithful.

 

The cross is being taken around all parishes of the diocese in commemoration of 125 years after carving out the independent diocese of Mangalore. It is being adored at each parish of each of the 15 deaneries.
