Dubai: Newly formed Vamanjoorian’s UAE Celebrated Monthi Festh

Dubai, 17 September 2011: Thursday September 15th , was an evening symbolizing a precise blend of solemnity and unity. For the First time VAMANJOORIAN’S UAE celebrated ’Monthi Fest’, a family festival of love, peace and togetherness. The celebration was held at “Zomorrodah Complex Hall” Karama, Dubai in the evening from 8.00pm for one theme “Kutma Spiritan Sangatha yevyam, Navem Jevyam Monthi Fest Samramya”.
About 200 enthusiastic Parishnors were gathered to celebrate the Monthi fest. Mr. Roshan D’Silva well known compere was the Master of Ceremony carried out the programme. The traditional celebration commenced with a procession headed by native Parishners Mr. John D’Souza who carried the statue of infant Mary along with ‘blessed Novae’ by Mrs. Jacintha Mendonca and children with flowers. Prayer to worship Mother Mary was led by Belthangady Parish Priest Fr. James D’Souza followed by offering flowers by children, young and elders while singing the hymns ‘Sakkad Sangatha Mellyam and Moriyek Hogolsiam’. Fr. James D’Souza blessed the milk mixed with Novem and served first to elderly couple residing in UAE Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Mendonca, then served to all parishners.
A warm welcome was addressed to the gathering by the President Jerald Lobo. Followed by lighting the candle by the core committee members signifying the pure and simple love and devotion of Mother Mary in accepting the heavenly call and sharing her life towards betterment of human race to serve the people in need. The Master of ceremony Roshan D’silva welcomed the clergy on the stage where they were felicitated by bouquet of flowers. The patrons and benefactors were also recognized and thanked for their continued support to the parish.
In his short address, Melwin D’cunha laid emphasis on living a family life and further stressed on nurturing Konkani in order to enhance the family life. He highlighted “Mother tongue carries an extra ounce of values than any other language and imparts a greater feel for one’s own family, friends and appreciated the tremendous changes that he has seen in Vamanjoorians.
Entertainment followed soon after, and this was superbly complimented by music played by. The highlight of the celebrations was the enactment of skits/jokes /dance by children and adult and were appreciated by the attendees and were full of laughter and fun.
Cultural programme commenced with dance by Feat Beat Group, then Singing by well known singer Goan Queen Maria entertained the crowd with goan numbers. Prashanth Pinto, Cressilda Rodriques, Preema Lasrado, Shanthi & Roshan D’Silva entertained the crowd with Konkani numbers Rosal & Suraj supported with their superb music. Comedy skits by our talented Vamanjoor artist who entertained the crowd with laughter and Children showed their talents by dance and singing. The highlight of the celebrations was the enactment of skits/jokes /dance were appreciated by the attendees and were full of laughter and fun.
Hero of Vamanjoor Mr.Joel D’Souza, who saved his life on this tragic accident, was honored on behalf of Vamanjoorians. Mr.Joseph Pinto who took an initiate to form Vamanjoorians association was also honored.
Various spot games were efficiently conducted for kids and adults by well known actor Mr. Alwin Pinto. A traditional vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all. The programme concluded with a rocking baila on the dance floor by DJ Anil Cardoza. The gathering made all the vamanjoorian members to feel the united family bond yet again and the progaramme concluded with vote of thanks by the Secreatry Laveena Monteiro.
