Dubai: Konkani play ’Chintnen Sobdan Ani Karnen’ wins hearts of UAE audience

Dubai, 31 May 2014: The award winning ever green drama scripted by great play write Late MicMax titled:  “Chintnen, SobdanAniKarnen” won the hearts of the UAE Audience who attended twin plays in large numbers from all over U.A.E.  The first short comedy drama “ KazarachiDotorne” by local artists also made a lasting impression and had audience roar in laughter.

 

The twin dramas were staged by Vamanjooreans UAE one of the premier association of Vamanjoor Parish of Mangalore Diocese to the full capacity of the audietoriumat the Sh. Rashid Auditorium on Friday 30th May 2014.

 

The programbegan with a welcome song and grand entry of RoshanD’Silva a vibrant member and leader of Vamanjooreans and a well-known MC of UAE with a wonderful introduction of the event of the day followed by a prayer song and lighting the traditional lamp by the main sponsor  Jerald & Roopa Lobo Vamanjoor, Lawrence Mendonsa - Prime sponser, Roshan M. Kamath (actor), Edwin DSouza (brother of Mic Max) and Johnson Monteiro (President Vamanjooreans UAE).

 

A two minute silence was observed prior to staging of first drama “ KazarachiDotorne” in memory of Late MP D’Sawho had written this famous konkani drama.

 

The first drama drama“ KazarachiDotorne” was played by famous actors of UAE Jochim D’Souza (Novro), Stephen Menezes (Mirni), Richard Saldanha (Padryab) and Godwin Castelino (Botler).  This is a simple story of an uneducated groom to get married attends Marriage Preparation Session wherein a scores of religious questions asked by first Mirni and then the priest for which groom (Antony) had no clues at all and for a bottle of liquor Mirni helps him out to answer.  It was indeed a super comedy drama which created roar of laughter from the audience and wonderfully played by all the artists. The music for this play was provided by MelroyD’Cunha and Vincent Fernandes Cassia and it was director by Stephen Menezes.

 

At the end of the first drama  a brief stage program was held  wherein all the above artists were honoured with mementos in appreciation by Jerald Lobo (Advisor UAE Vamjooreans) accompanied by Johnson Monteiro.  Also felicitated on the occasion were all the sponsors of the event and media persons.

 

A new Konakni audio CD MogaNaadh by Francis Rodrigues was released by Walter D’Souza Nandalike (Dhaijiworld) accompanied by singer Joseph Mathias, Musician Thushara and Monica Valdar.

 

In his presidential address Johnhson Monteiro expressed his feeling for the wonderful co-ordination by all members to put up this great show of twin dramas.  He was particularly grateful for all the sponsors without their support to stage these two famous dramas would not be possible.  His said that his parish when formed had only a 100 families and were very hard working but poor.  Eventually they grow and the current strength of Vamanjorean Parish is estimated at 800-850 families.

 

Vamanjoorenas UAE supported them with a lot of financial help generated through the wonderful sponsors from UAE during their last anniversary program.  He also said that all the proceeding of this event too will be sent to thei parish to support the under-privileged for the education, medical and charitable needs.

 

Finally he thanked all the audience for coming in large numbers, media persons for their constant publicity and all the artists of twin dramas.

 

Prior to staging award winning drama “ChintnenSobdanAniKarnen” a two minute silent prayer was observed in memory of Late MicMax, the writer of this great mega social play.

 

 

 

The award winning Konkani social drama wasperformed by well-known actors from Vamanjoor namely Denis Monteiro, who has acted and directed almost all of Cha Pra’s dramas (in the leading role) accompanied by Jerald Monteiro Mangalore, one of the top actor, privileged to act with late Cha Pra, awarded best actor at the Diocese level drama competition and acted in many konkani dramas and won accolades.The other talented artists were Ms. SapnaCrastawho  played lead female role in this drama.  She has given mesmerizing performance in her last appearance in the play ’ BhnagarMunis ’ staged in Dubai andstaged by Mangalore Konkans Dubai in 2012, AssunthaPais who had also acted inBhangarMunis ’. Roshan M .Kamath, Mario Roche and Denzil Fernandesin the supporting role.

 

This social drama highlight a important message of family life and the drama revolves around a married couple Claude (Character husband played by Denis Monteiro) and Helen (Wife played by Sapna)  for five years but both are extremely busy with their own life, husband in his office and wife engaged in heavy social service by ignoring each other needs.  Husband was frustrated with his wife for not giving any attention to him and wife too busy with social services and picnics organized by parish youth.  The tension rises when husband fumbled upon a love letter and presumes it was written to his wife by her lover youth president of parish Manu (DenzilFerndanes) and the doubting husband creates havoc in the house and total peace is lost and wife was shocked and threatens to leave the house.

 

Sandwiched between this fighting couple were cook Pincha played by Mario Roch finds himself in a helpless situation.  The neighbor Silam (Roshan M. Kamath )who pokes his nose in this family affair and he also plays second as a Family Planning officer and the final role uncle of the wife Jerald Montiero who tries his best the fix the marriage.  However in the presumed lover Manu along with his actual lover (Alish played by Assuntha) clears the misunderstanding and husband apologies to his wife and all is well at the end. The acting skill of all the characters in this drama was praiseworthy and the audience applauded when a few powerful dialogues were delivered and audience glued to the drama from the beginning to the end.  Though it was a very good social drama it also had bit of rib tickling comedy which provided laughter tonic to the audience.  It was indeed a great playwrite by late MICMAX was well appreciated and applauded by the house full audience.

 

The play was directed by award winning directorDenis Monteiro himself, andVamanjoor’syoung music director and singer RoystonPinto provided wonderful background music.

 

Prior to conclusion all the artists of the drama were honoured with memento each by members of the association.  On the occasion Vamanjooreans had the privileged of honouring actor and director Denis Monteiro for his best performance as an seasoned artist and as director.  He was honoured with shawl, flowers, memento and fruit basket.  In response the grateful Denis expressed his gratitude to the association members for their support in bring his drama troupe to Dubai and giving them the chance to stage this wonderful drama.  He also thanked all the sponsors, and the audience for watching this wonderful drama.
