Mumbai, Feb 22: The Jayaleela Trust, founded by the great leader of the Billava Samaj, Jaya C. Suvarna, has been providing honorariums to deserving research students of the Kannada department of Mumbai University since last year.

This year’s honorarium distribution program will be held on March 1st at the J.P. Nayak Bhavan of Mumbai University, where the research grants will be handed over to the students, said Suryakant Jaya Suvarna, manager of the Jayaleela Trust.

Jaya Suvarna has given a high status to the Billava community by serving as the President of the Billava Association for twenty-one years, the Executive President of the Bharat Co-operative Bank for eighteen years, and the President of the National Billava Mahamandal for twenty-four years. Jaya Suvarna’s contribution in the social, economic, educational and religious fields is considerable. He has demonstrated humanity throughout his life by responding to the pain of the helpless and helping as much as he can. Through the Jayaleela Trust, which he established two decades ago, every year, eight to ten lakh rupees are given as financial assistance to poor and deserving students in terms of education and health, regardless of caste, creed or religion. In addition, as a result of taking full responsibility for the education of many children and shaping their future, he has now obtained high positions and positions in the country and abroad. Suvarna has been doing such work behind the scenes without anyone knowing.

"The work of the Mumbai University Kannada Department, which is working hard to preserve and develop Kannada in Maharashtra, is commendable. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the community through the Jayaleela Trust," says Suryakant Jaya. Suvarna of Bharat Co-operative Bank, who is continuing his social service work with dedication, just like his father.

Kannada higher education and research are currently not receiving any support from government universities. At this time, the fact that the Suryakanta Jaya Suvarna Parivar is standing in support of the department is a hopeful development. The department is indebted to them, said the head of the department, Prof. G. N. Upadhyay, expressing gratitude.
