Udupi: Speech is the best platform to express opinion. Chancellor of Udupi Diocese Rev. Dr. Roshan D’Souza said. He was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the diocesan level Konkani and Kannada speech competitions organized by the Catholic Sabha Udupi Region at Kakkunje Anugraha Pastoral Centre on Sunday, 03 November 2024.

 

A platform to express our opinion on social, political, religious issues is formed through speech. Through this, our children will get an opportunity to develop their leadership and they will be able to speak in public with courage, he said.

 

Santosh Cornelio, the president of the Catholic Sabha, who presided over the program, said that the speech will help the children to develop confidence and become leaders by speaking fearlessly in the society. " Participating in speech competitions is a great opportunity for our personal development, " he said.

Speech competition was held in Konkani and Kannada and first, second and third prizes were awarded to the winners in four separate categories. Around 60 students participated in the competition from five deaneries who advanced to the central stage as winners.

 

Catholic Sabha Udupi Region’s  Spiritual Director and Vicar General of the Diocese Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Catholic Sabha Treasurer Gerald Rodriguez, President-elect Ronald D’Almeida, former President Valerian Fernandez were present.

 

Host of the program Edward Larson D’Souza welcomed and Secretary Olivia D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks. Shanti Pereira compered the program.
