Moodubelle: Various sports and games mark the Janmashtami celebration

Moodubelle, 22 August 2011: Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated in a unique way by organising eight different varieties of games and sports jointly sponsored by Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivruddhi Yojane (SKDGY), Lions Club of Modubelle and Jana Jagruti Vedike, Udupi on Moonday, August 21, 2011 from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm in the premises of Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

The programme was attended by  Devdas Hebbar- President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat who also presided  over the function, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-member  of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Navin Amin-President of Jana Jagruti Vedike, Udupi, who also  inaugurated the function, Rajendra Shetty- member of Belle Grama Panchayat and also President of the Lions Club of  Moodubelle, Prashant- Supervisor of SKDGY Kaup Zone and Raghavendra- in-charge of Belle-Kattingeri SKDGY Okkoota.

 

 

Speaking at this occasion, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza said that such occasions provided an opportunity for the children to show their talents and appealed the parents to encourage their children to participate in such events. Devdas Hebbar in his message said that Bhagvadgita in all its 18 chapters provide good lessons for life. He also said that sports and games not only help in developing one’s personality but also promotes  cooperation and family atmosphere.

 

The games and sports included Tug of War for men and women, breaking the pot, musical chairs, etc. The winners were given prizes by the dignitaries on the dais. In Tug of War women’s team from Kattingeri  and  men’s team from Belle stood first.  There was also ‘Muddhu krishna’ competition for small children.

 

Earlier, the programme began with prayer sung by Shilpa Bhat.  Kum. Anitha welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Divya compeered the programme.
