Udupi: Fr. Melwyn Noronha was given a warm send off

Udupi, 30 May 2011: The parishioners of the Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, bid emotional farewell to their Assistant Parish, Priest Fr. Melwyn Noronha on Sunday 29th May 2011, in the church prayer hall immediately after the 7-15 am mass who is being transferred to the Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar, Mangalore, as Assistant Parish Priest.
The Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Boniface D’Souza spoke on behalf of the parishioners and wished success to Fr. Melwyn in his new assignment. Fr Melwyn though had come to Udupi a year ago, had become familiar with every family of the Parish and was very friendly with all young and old alike. He has been known for his effective homilies which have been appreciated by all. He honoured Fr. Melwyn with a garland of flowers.
Rev. Fr. Mathew Vas, the Parish Priest in his message appreciated the work done by Fr. Melwyn Noronha as the Assistant Parish Priest of the Mother of Sorrows Church.
In his reply to the felicitations, Fr. Melwyn Noronha in a humble way acknowledged with gratitude the help, assistance and cooperation of all the Parishioners and particularly the guidance of the Episcopal Vicar Rev. Dr.Baptist Menezes and Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Mathew Vas and Sacristan , office staff and all the parishioners, young and old.
All the parishioners who attended the farewell function wished Fr. Melwyn well and greeted him with flowers and bouquets. It was an emotional scene to see everyone wishing Fr. Melwyn.
