Moodubelle: Jnanaganga Pre-University College inaugurated at Nellikatte

Moodubelle, 14 May 2011: Jnanaganga Pre-University College at Nellikatte, Moodubellle, built on three acres of land with 26,000 square feet area was inaugurated on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11 am. The PU College will start functioning from June, 2011 and provide Science and Commerce courses. The PU College is established by General Insurance Employees Cooperative Society Limited, Udupi. U. L. Bhat retired principal of St. Mary’s Syrian PU College, Brahmavar has been appointed as the fist principal of Jnanaganga PU College.
The Jnanaganga PU College was inaugurated by Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Government of Karnataka. The inauguration function was presided over by Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA from Kaup Constituency.M. Gopikrishna Rao, founder president of the Jnanganga PU College welcomed the guests. Shri Shri Vishweshathirtha of Pejavar Mutt inaugurated the function by formally lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais. The Swamiji also unveiled the marble slab with the name of the PU College and later delivered the Asirvachana.
In his speech, Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri said that the Udupi District has been known for its religious tradition, financial institutions, hotel industry and also it has made a name in the field of education. He expressed his happiness at the establishment of Jnanaganga PU College at Nellikatte, Moodubelle and said that educational institutions should not be commercialized. They should fulfill their responsibility by imparting good education and building the character of the students. Kageri also pointed out that the college is being built on a three acres of land surrounded by good natural environment which provides an excellent atmosphere for teaching and learning activities. Kageri complemented Lalaji R. Mendon, the Kaup MLA in whose constituency this educational institution has been established. He made an appeal to the audience to support the various socially relevant programmes that have been undertaken by Shri Shri Vishweshathirtha of Pejavar Mutt.
The other dignitaries who attended the function of the inauguration of the Jnanaganga PU College included: Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Honorary Secretary of AICC and former MP from Udupi, Vasant V. Salian, former minister, S.R. Satishchandra, President of Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. Bangalore, Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, President of Udupi District Cooperative Union, Sindha S.S., Deputy Director of Pre-University and Vocational Education, Udupi and Mrs. Jacinta Aranha, President of Belle Grama Panchayat.
