Moodubelle, 10 April 2011: Cool breeze and mild showers in the evening of Sunday, 10 April 2011 brought certain amount of relief from the sweltering heat of the summer. The weather had been quite hot and sultry, especially during the day time since the beginning of April. Today, the heat was so much in the noon that, this reporter along with a neighbour of his ventured into the river for a swim and to experience the joy of having a dip in the cool underwater of the river for the first time since many years.
In the evening at around five thirty, the sky became overcast and mild thundering sound in the horizon looked like the onset of the monsoon. Along with the gathering of clouds in the sky and thundering sound, the cool breeze sweeping gently across the vegetation gave much needed relief to the people.
The cattle that was grazing in the fields became uneasy as the sky became darker and began to run for shelter. Those who were harvesting the ‘kolake’ paddy had already left. However, there was worry writ large on the face of the ‘kolake’ owners thinking what would happen to the paddy if it rained heavily. As this reporter went out to capture few pictures of the overcast sky, he came across some young boys playing cricket in the barren field that is being used as a play ground.
It started drizzling gently at around 7 pm and lightening flashing across the sky along with the thunder made one think whether the monsoon season would start much in advance. By the time this report is being filed, the sky is still overcast and though the sound of thunder has subssided, the mild showers still continue.
