Udupi’s Kannada Teru flagged off

Udupi, 10 March 2011: The Vishwa Kannada Teru (chariot) from Udupi district, which will participate in the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan, was flagged off here on Wednesday. The chariot is intended to create awareness among people about the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan to be held in Belgaum from March 11 to 13.
Udupi Zilla Panchayat president Katapady Shankar Poojary, who flagged off the chariot, said Vishwa Kannada Sammelan was an event which people were eagerly awaiting for. The chariot, which was organised by the district administration and the Department of Kannada and Culture, began from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
It passed through the main streets of Udupi such as Brahmagiri Road, Taluk Office Road and Diana Circle. A band and students from schools and colleges and NSS volunteers from Madhav Pai Memorial College, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, and the Government First Grade College went along with the chariot.
