Udupi/M’Belle: Late Padmawati and Bhawani Rao Memorial Pratibha Puraskar given to meritorious

Moodubelle, 07 Aug 2016: In order to recognize and promote meritorious students late Padmawati and Bhawani Rao Memorial Pratibha Puraskar was given to meritorious PUC and SSLC students residing in Belle-Kattingeri villages in a function held on Saturday, 6 August 2016 at 2.30pm at Geetha Mandir, Moodubelle. The cash awards were sponsored by B. Ravindranath Rao, son of late Padmawati and Bhawani Rao.
Prior to the distribution of awards and certificates to the meritorious students, B. Sadananda Rao, retired teacher from Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School conducted written Quiz to the PUC and High School students.
The award function was presided over by Bhuvandendra Rao, who has served as a lecturer for two years in St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle and later as the Headmaster of Government High School, Indrali. Other dignitaries on the dais included B. Ravindranath Rao, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde, president of Belle Grama panchayat, Shivaji Suvarna, President of CA Bank, Moodubelle, Rajendra Shetty, former president of Belle Grama panchayat and B. Sadananda Rao.
Meritorious students who were given cash prizes and certificates in PUC Science section were; Shantala Kamath (PPC, Udupi), Jaisy Sheetal Mendonca(St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle) and K. Vinyas Pai(St. Lawrence PU College). In PUC Commerce: Hazel Martis (PPC, Udupi), B. Krishna Pai (PPC, Udupi) and Apeksha (St. Lawrence PU College); and in PUC Arts: Rohit, Soumya and Akshay-All from St. Lawrence PU College.
Cash prizes were also given to the meritorious students who had secured first three ranks in their respective institutions. These included: Kannada Medium-Santosh Patkar, Sooraj Acharaya and Rashmitha Kotian(All from St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle). English medium: Viola Theresa, Elston Lawrence D’Souza and Sharada Shetty (All from St. Lawrence English Medium High School).
The winners of the written Quiz competition were: PUC Section: Subramany-Jnanaganga PU College, Santosh Patkar-St. Lawrence PU College and Dhanush Kamath-Jnanganaga PU College. In High School Section the winners were: Vionna Fernandes, Glen Larsen Rebello and Rishel-all from St. Lawrence English medium High School, Moodubelle.
The awards and prizes were distributed by Mrs. Ranjani Hegde, Shivaji Suvarna, Bhuvanendra Rao, B. Ravindranath rao and Rajendra Shetty.
B. Sadananda Rao in his introductory address explained the reason and purpose behind the late Padmawati and Bhawani Rao Memorial Pratibah Puraskar and welcomed the guests. Mrs. Ranjani Hegde, U.L. Bhat, Principal of Jnanganga PU College, Devdas Hebbar and the chief guest Bhuvanendra Rao speaking on this occasion congratulated the students and appreciated the good work done by B. Ravindranath Rao by recognizing and encouraging meritorious students.
Raghu, Physical Instructor of Jnanganga PU College proposed the vote of thanks. Niranjan Rao helped in organizing the programme.
