Derik’s Chess School Students shine in the State Rapid Chess Championship

Mangalore, 22 February 2011: Four students of Derik’s Chess School, have won laurels to the institution with excellent performance in the recently held State Rapid Chess Championship from 12th to 13th February 2011 in Mangalore.
Ananth, Andria, Sharan Rao, Vivek Raj
In the Su-junior Players category, Master Sharan Rao (FIDE rating:1703) scored 6 points in 9 rounds and was placed on top of the Sub junior plaayers category. Master Vivekraj (FIDE Rating: 1606) also secured 6 points and was declared Runner Up. Master Anantharam R U (FIDE Rating: 1744) was placed 4th among the Sub junior players with 6 points to his credit. Karnataka under 17 Girls Champion ,13 year old Andria D’souza (FIDE Rating: 1708) scored 5.5 points and was awarded Best Woman player of the event.
These players have consistently performed in the various state chess events and look ahead for challenging performances in the upcoming National Age Group championships.
