M’lore boy wins gold in national chess meet

Mangalore, 28 Oct 2012: Derik’s Chess School talent Vivekraj has won the gold medal in Kendriya Vidyalayas’ national chess championship held at Kanpur from October 15 to 20. Vivekraj remained unbeaten in eight rounds to garner seven points and stood above higher seeded OT Manas (Kerala) and Prajwal Shet (Bangalore) with better tiebreak score.

 

 

This performance has ensured his selection to the Kendriya Vidyalaya team to participate in National inter-school chess championship 2012-13 to be organized by School Games Federation of India. Vivekraj is student of Kendriya Vidyalaya number 2, Yekkur, Mangalore.
