Udupi: Deanery level Couples Day observed at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva

Udupi, 25 Oct 2015: Shirva Deanery level Couples’ Day was observed at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva  on Saturday, 24 October 2015 with solemn mass and get-together. Around 300 couples from Shirva Varado participated in this gathering.

 

Following registration of the couples and breakfast, the couples went into the church in procession at 9.30 am. The solemn mass was offered by Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo assisted by Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Parish priest of Our Lady of Health Church and Dean of Shirva Varado along with other priests from different parishes of Shirva Varado.

 

Following the end of the all the couples along with priests and guests went in procession to the parish hall accompanied by the brass band. Fire crackers were also burst on this occasion.

 

 

The eldest couple at the gathering was from the Pernal Parish who have completed 66 years of their married life and the youngest couple was from Shirva Parish who got married in this month only. Both the couples were called to the stage to cut the cake.  All the couples exchanged cake with their spouses.

 

Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro raised the toast in honour of all the couples.

 

As part of entertainment students of Don Bosco English Medium School presented dance programme. Comic skits were presented by Sunil Cabral and team.

 

Lesley Aroza, Director of Family Life Commission in his message wished the couples good and happy life.

 

Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Rev. Fr. Vincent Lobo, Rev. Fr. Stephan Lewis, Wilson D’Souza-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Valerian Machado-Coordinator of Family Life Commission in Shirva Varado were present.

 

Bishop Gerald Lobo honoured all the donors to the programme.

 

Valerian Machado welcomed the gathering and Sunil D’Souza of Mudarangadi compeered the progamme.
