Udupi: Shirva parish wins Bible Quiz, Petri parish II, Pangala III

Udupi, 22 Nov 2014: Our Lady of Health parish, Shirva, near here organized Udupi diocesan level Bible quiz as part of centenary celebration of parish at Don Bosco Hall, Shirva, here recently.  Twenty-groups from different parishes across Udupi diocese participated in the Bible quiz.

 

The preliminary round in the form of written quiz was started at 10:30am, and top 6 winning team of preliminary round were selected for the final round. The top 6 participants for final round were from Karkal town, Padukone, Mudarangadi, Pangala, Petri and Shirva.

 

The most eagerly-awaited part of the quiz - The final round started at 2:30pm after lunch, and was conducted in 7 levels. The clergies of Our Lady of Health parish, Shirva were the animators for the quiz. The rounds were interesting and were conducted using various modern tools and techniques. The enthusiastic participants and audience made this evening truly a spiritual one.

 

Gilbert Pinto compered the programme and Vanessa D’Souza conducted the audience round and successfully involved the audience also in the event.

 

 

The winners of the event were: Our Lady of Health parish, Shirva bagged the first place.   St Peter’s parish, Petri bagged the second place and St John Evangelist parish, Pangala bagged the third place.

 

The winners of the event were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 respectively. All the participants were awarded a certificate each.

 

Udupi diocesan vicar general Monsignor Baptist Menezes presided the valedictory programme.

 

Shirva parish priest Fr Stany Tauro, assistant parish priests Fr Wilson Lobo and Fr Gerald D’Mello, Shirva - Don Bosco Youth Centre rector Fr Simao Fernandes, Sr Hilda, Sr Brigit Madta, Shirva parish council vice president Wilson D’Souza and secretary William Machado, were present at the dais.

 

It was a day of togetherness for parishioners of Shirva, as the youth units of the parish -YCS, SSVP and ICYM joined hands together in fellowship to make this event a grand success.
