Bahrain Gears up for Gulf Voice of Mangalore Semifinals

Bahrain, 24 Sep, 2014: Konkan Singers Club and Konkani Kutam Bahrain are all geared up to host the semi-final of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) Season 4, on Friday, 26th September at the Baan Saeng Thai auditorium. The much anticipated programme will start at 5:30 pm.
Twelve semi-finalists – 6 each from male and female categories will be fighting it out for a spot in final. Two winners (One male and one female) from Bahrain semi-finals will get an opportunity to participate in the finals which will be held in Muscat on November 7 this year.
Compere:Ronald Olivera
The Master of Ceremony will be Mr. Ronald Olivera who is a well-known with complete command and fluency in English, Konkani, Hindi, Kannada and Tulu. He has not only compered shows for most of the Konkani singers/artistes but also performed in the shows of many Indian artistes such as Kottayam Nazir, Mohammad Aslam, Nadarsha, S Janaki, and many others. Time and again, he has proven that he could handle the mega events with utmost ease and to the entire satisfaction of the audience from all walks of life. A hit program “Raymond the Complete Man” Personality Pageant in Bahrain in 2001 spoke volumes of his capability as a compere.
Judges for the Event:
1. Mr. LancyMoras
LancyMorasis a well-known music composer and singer who has successfully presented 7 Konkani Musical Nites altogether, inclusive of two shows in Don Bosco Hall Mangalore, one at St. Agnes Special School grounds Mangalore, one at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and one at Dammam Saudi Arabia and recently one at Bahrain. He also was invited to be a guest Konkani singing artist at Alnasr Poolside in Dubai. LancyMoras has already released two Konkani Albums and a third one is due to be released by December 2014. LancyMoras has composed over 100 Konkani songs and over 25 Konkani devotional hymns. From childhood Lancy participated in inter parish, school, and college singing competitions and won prizes. His inspiration has been KonkanKogul late WilfyRebimbus and his singing guidance has been KonkanKalashree Claud D’Souza.
2. Adrian Gomes:
Born on September 2, Adrian Gomes is a BE graduate in electronics and communication along with diploma in telecommunication engineering. He started his music carrier by learning accordion from Fr Albuqerque at FathimaRetreat House. Later he mastered instruments like organ, guitar, drums and Trumpet. He has played trumpet and drums for Kalakaar and Toofaan Orchestra in Bombay, Ashok Charan Orchestra Konkani Musical Nites of Claud D’souza and Eric Ozario and in various Konkani cassettes in Mangalore. He has composed music and played keyboard, trumpet, accordian and harmonica for Konkani songs, Hindi and Bengali albums in Kuwait and released three Konkani instrumental audio cassettes named “A Tribute to the Konkani Composers” and the 4th CD is the set to be released.
Adrian has played for most of the Konkani, Tulu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi shows in Kuwait and also in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar. He has been leading the orchestra and performing for several Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil Playback singers namely Dr P Susheela, Mano, AnuradhaSriram, Srinivasan, Vasundara Das, Biju Narayan, music director Deva, Harini, Unni Menon, Min Mini and several others visiting Kuwait.
He has also organized shows, conducted orchestra and played instruments for Konkani Nites of WilfyRebimbus, Henry D’souza, MelwynPeris, Claud D’souza and Wilson Olivera. He has beenbestowed with the titles “SangeethVazanthranShilpi” and “KonkanTansen” by USWAS-Dubai and Kuwait Konkans. Adrian is popularly known as AR Rehman of Konkani for his expertise in the music field.
3. Ajith Peter D’souza
Ajith Peter D’souza, who hails from Udupi Diocese, is a MA in English and MBA in HR. He is a HR Officer by profession in an organization in Dubai and Music Composer and Director by passion.
Ajith began his musical journey 17 years ago after having gained the knowledge of western and Indian music from musicians like Fr. Ben Britto and Fr. Paul Melwyn Dsouza. Since then he has been into various aspects of Music. He is a singer, lyricist, Composer, Choir Master and Keyboard Player and stands out as a passionate composer and music director who likes to experiment different aspects of Music into Konkani.
Ajith Has released three musical albums namely, TuzoSangaath..feelings personified, Ye Laagim..in my arms and TujyeVengenth..feel the sensation. Among the three the latter two( Ye Laagim and TujyeVengenth) albums made their way into 4th and 5th Konkani Global Awards respectively to be nominated for best Musical albums of the year 2011 and 2012 and TujyeVengenth won the title.
‘ He has been part of two musical programmes in Chandana and Udaya TV in 2004 and in 2009 played a role in a Kannada serial Mahayaana in Kasturi Channel.
