Spain / Mumbai ( Bantwal ), June 02 : As a significant part of India’s diplomatic efforts after Operation Sindoor, an all-party delegation led by MP Kanimozhi, including Dakshina Kannada MP K. Brijesh Chowta, has successfully completed its foreign visit to clarify its firm stance of zero tolerance against terrorism and strengthen international cooperation.
The delegation, which began its five-nation visit in Madrid, Spain, as part of India’s global campaign against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. On the first day, it interacted with the Indian community in Spain. Spanish businessman Arturo Fernandez Alvarez, a survivor of the horrific Mumbai terror attacks, joined the delegation in condemning Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
On the last day of the visit, the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, led by Antonio Gutiérrez Limóns, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, held talks with the Asociación de Victimas del Terrorismo, an organization representing more than 4,800 victims of terrorism, as well as members of the Spanish government, parliamentarians and representatives of civil society.
Visit Latvia:
Before the visit to Spain, the delegation visited Latvia, where it held fruitful discussions with the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima (Parliament of the Republic of Latvia), H.E. Inara Murnis, Chair of the Saeima Group of Members Promoting Parliamentary Cooperation with India, H.E. Ingrida Sirsene, and members of these committees, senior Saeima officials, and representatives of the Baltic Assembly from the Latvian side. It also met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrejs Vilumsons, and Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, Special Envoy for Latvia’s UNSC Candidacy 2026-27 and Director of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights.
This is the first high-level delegation from India to visit Latvia since India opened its embassy in Riga, Latvia in July 2024, and this visit by diplomats from both countries assumes great significance.
Along with this, the delegation led by MP Kanimozhi, which left Delhi on May 22, successfully visited Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia and Spain, all of which not only expressed full support for India’s fight against terrorism, but also widely condemned the Pahalgam attack in their respective countries. Thus, India’s efforts to isolate Pakistan against terrorism have received an unprecedented response and support in the global arena.
I am very proud and satisfied to have got the opportunity to represent the delegation from Karnataka, especially from our Dakshina Kannada, as part of the all-party delegation led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convey the voice of India’s solidarity against terrorism to the global community and to remove the mask of Pakistan, which sponsors, nurtures and suffocates terrorism. I have also got the opportunity to visit many countries in Europe and have direct talks with our diplomatic officials, government representatives, and thinkers from various sectors, and to learn many things from their experiences in terms of administration. In this context, there is no doubt that this foreign visit has not only created a new experience for me personally, but also made it more memorable. In this context, I would like to express my special gratitude to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving me such an opportunity to go as an MP on a high-level delegation, said MP Captain Brijesh.
