Bahrain: Larisa Janice Miranda and Vijeth Cliston DSilva stroms into the Finals of GVOM-4

Bahrain, Sep 30, 2014: Bahrain bred Larisa Janice Miranda and Chikmagalur boy Vijeth Cliston D’Silva outshined other contestants at the GVOM-4 Bahrain Semi Finals on 26th September 2014 at Baan Saeng Thai Auditorium attended by packed audience to grab their chance to represent Bahrain at the Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 4 Finals to be held in Oman on 7th November 2014.

 

The audience burst into applause and cheers as Bahrain’s most loved compere par excellence from Dubai Ronald Olivera announced the names of the winners. It was a nail biting finish after the grueling 2 rounds, solo and duets with spectacular performance by the 12 semifinalists. In the end it was Larisa Janice Miranda who won in the Female category and Vijeth Cliston D’Silva in Male category and confirmed their spots in the finals.

 

Fr. Freddy D’Souza ofm cap, assistant parish priest of Sacred Heart Church was the guest of honour who himself is a lover of Konkani music was a witness to the fierce competition which was judged by the 3 of the most accomplished men in the field of Konkani Music who were flown in to judge the Semi Finals. Adrian Gomes a music genius from Kuwait, Singer & Composer Lancy Moras from Saudi Arabia and Ajith Peter D’Souza Young Singer, composer & lyricist from Dubai. It was clear by the judges reaction that the competition was tough but at the end Bahrain had 2 clear winners.

The Bahrain Semi Finals hosted by Konkan Singers Club and Konkani Kutam Bahrain began with a prayer dance by Jovita D’Silva. Walter Dantis the Bahrain Coordinator of Gulf Voice of Mangalore welcomed the gathering and called on the Executive committee members of the organizing associations onto the stage. Henry D’Almeida the convenor of Konkani Kutam addressed the gathering and welcomed the audience to witness the Semi Finals.

 

Walter Dantis then introduced the 12 semifinalists to the audience and along with Steven D’Souza the General Secretary of Konkan Singers Club handed over the contestants badges to the contestants. Walter Dantis then invited the guest of honour Fr. Freddy D’Souza followed by the 3 judges. The Judges were then inducted and presented with the marks file by Steven D’Souza. Walter Dantis then introduced the entertaining and witty Ronald Olivera as the compere of the evening.

 

Ronald Olivera announced the beginning of the Semi Finals and Susan Monica Miranda was the first to render “Havin Mogar Podlyan” originally sung by Munita Veigas followed by Lynet Vas’s rendition of “Mujya kalzachi her yek udi” originally song by the queen of Konkani Music Meena Rebimbus herself. The Voice Teena Roshan D’Souza that represented Bahrain in GVOM-3 in Qatar was third to perform on “ Jai Bharatha” composed by P. H. Pinto. The singing competition continued with Evita Fiona Sequeira rendering ”Fulon Yenuvcha” by Shama followed by Anita D’Souza’s “Goribponn” rendered by Melba Martis and the Female solo category ended with Larisa Janice Miranda’s emotional rendition of “Ahimsa” a Melwyn Peris Composition.

 

The Male solo singing followed soon after with Ronald Fernandes rendering “Chondrak Pavaitolom” composed by Melwyn Peris and sung by Rony D’Çunha. Francis Lobo presented “Moga Kityak Ashem” originally sung by Dr. Prashanth Raj followed by Winston Preetam Aranha’s rendition of “Tuzo ugdas” composed by one of the Judges Lancy Moras and sung by Ravindra Prabhu. The next participant to perform was Vijeth Cliston D’Silva who beautifully rendered “Hazar Fulan Modein” a Vincent Fernandes Composition originally sung by Rony D’Çunha. Ivan Sequeira rendered “Sarika” again a Lancy Moras composition originally sung by Prajoth D’sa. The male solo singing category concluded with Christopher Roshan Lobo’s impressive rendition of “Mogak Aslim Pakam” originally sung by Robin Sequeira from the album Gavn Muzo Mova Doodacho.

 

After a short interval the Duet Singing started with Teena Roshan D’Souza & Ronald Fernandes presenting “Chendrem udela Molbaar” a Melwyn Peris Composition sung by Rony D’cunha & Babita Pinto. This was followed by Susan Monica Miranda & Winston Preetham Aranha presenting “Chendrem voir antralar”  from the album Tunch Tum by Roshan D’Souza, Belman. Evita Fiona Sequeira & Christopher Roshan Lobo rendered “Ek Zalim amchi kaalzan” originally sung by Munita Veigas & Ashwin. The Fourth duet “Ye Moga ye” from the album Moag konem dekhla was presented by Melba Martis & Vijeth Cliston D’Silva. Lynet Vaz & Francis Lobo presented “Udenthin Tahvn” from the Album Apalipa and originally sung by Felix & carol. The last to perform were Larisa Janice Miranda and ivan Sequeria who rendered “Hathanth Ghevun” composed by one of the ace composer judging the competition Ajith Peter D’Souza.

 

Various Dances and Skits were performed in between to make the atmosphere lighter as the singing competition was getting tougher with every contestant performing.  Dance performance by 4 little girls Ayona Rodrigues, Susan Sequeira, Shania Dantis, Hallora D’Souza to the tunes of “Whistle Maar” composed by one of the judge Ajith Peter D’Souza. Another Dance Performance presented by Eunice D’Souza. Stephanie Fernandes, Riya Pinto, Ahslin Alva & Clarina D’costa presented a dance on the Song “tu ye lagim” composed by another composer present, Lancy Moras. An adult dance was presented by Evita, Devina, Stephanie, Roshan, Olwyn & Sunil to the tunes of “ye go mary” all dances choreographed by young Eunice D’Souza. Short Skits were performed by Stany, Steven, Sujay, Maxim & George.

While the Results were summarized the judges Ajith Peter D’Souza & Lancy Moras entertained the audience with their singing and Adrian Gomes with his trumpet.

 

Steven D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Ronald Olivera who kept the audience on their toes called on the Guest of honour Fr. Freddy D’Souza, Konkani Kutam Bahrain convener Henry D’Almeida, Konkan Singer Club President Walter Noronha, GVOM-4 Bahrain coordinator Walter Dantis and the general secretary of Konkan singers club and the event coordinator Steven D’Souza to the stage to honour the judges with a token of gratitude. Mr. Walter Dantis thanked the compere for the evening Ronald Olivera and a token of gratitude was presented to him.

 

Ronald Olivera then called on all the Female participants who were given participating trophies and it was then that he announced Larisa Janice Miranda as the Winner of GVOM-4 Bahrain Semi Finals and the winning trophy as presented to her by Fr. Freddy D’Souza. Ronald Olivera then called on all the male contestants to the stage and were given trophies of participation in the end Vijeth Cliston D’Silva was awarded with the title in male category and trophy was presented to him by Fr. Freddy D’Souza.
