Mangalore’Madgaon, 03 June 2025: Prominent writer, critic and editor of web-portal "Kittall"  HM Pernal’s collection of poems "Janel" was released at a function held at KBM Hall, Madgaon, Goa on Sunday, 01 June 2025 by renowned poet, critic and academician Kiran Budkuley. On this occasion Kiran Budkuley appreciated the poems written by HM Pernal and highlighted the subject matter of the poems contained in the book and their significance to the readers. Kiran Budkuley stressed on the essence of poetic expression and the role of observation and independent ideology in powerful poetry. She said that whether it is protest, acceptance, commentary, or evaluation — a poet’s inner voice must shine through. "Zanel" is a testament to such a voice.

Chetan Acharya, working president of the All India Konkani Parishad, introduced H M Pernal and praised his contribution to Konkani literature. "He is known for advocating quality over quantity. His poetic world is shaped by openness and deep observation of the world around him. The simplicity of his imagery makes his work both profound and accessible," said Acharya.

Dr Poornand Chari, president of Goa Konkani Akademi, congratulated HM Pernal and highlighted the importance of critical thinking in creative writing. He said that every writer should have an analyst within. HM Pernal embodies that spirit — a writer first and a critic second. His poems often adopt innovative storytelling methods, which make Zanel a significant literary milestone.

Welcoming the gathering, H M Pernal expressed his gratitude and shared insights into the inspiration behind Zanel. “I always try to keep my window (Zanel)open to sense the fresh breeze of the outside world. This book reflects everything I observed from that window. I’m grateful to my fellow writers and readers across the Konkani-speaking regions who transcend geographical boundaries to support one another,” he said.

On this occasion advocate Uday Bhembre, a senior Konkani writer and activist was honoured.

Titus Noronha, noted writer and cultural organiser, proposed the vote of thanks and Ananth Agni, columnist and leading compere from Goa compered the programme.

The release of Zanel marked a significant cultural moment, bringing together Konkani literary voices from Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Maharashtra, and reaffirming the strength and unity of the Konkani literary community
