Moodbidri: Alva’s Grand Nudisiri Cultural Fest, Ten Achievers Honoured

Moodbidri, 01 November 2010: The grand 3 day cultural celebration concluded at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri on Sunday 31 October 2010. Huge number of people gathered from all the districts of Karnataka at the venue, where an exhibition was also organized. Each day the programs started early in the morning through until late night.
On Sunday evening as the guests arrived for the valedictory ceremony at the main entrance of Alva’s college, they were welcomed with a procession. Dr D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, in his address said “The happiness of the people is an eternal reward. Dr M Mohan Alva has been organizing Alva’s Nudisiri for all these years and this will fetch him rich rewards. Dr Alva has indeed shown the way to heaven through his noble deeds.”
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, felicitated the achievers with shawl and a fruits’ bowl. The award also comprised of Rs 10,000 in cash, a traditional memento and a citation. The recipients of awards were Dr GS Amoora (Literature), Dr M Veerappa Moily (Social Service), Dr MM Kalburgi (Research), Santhosh Kumar Gulwady (Journalism), Dr Shimoga Subbanna (Light Music), Dr Balipa Narayana Bhagavata (Yakshagana), Dr M Leelavathi (Cinema), Prof B Jayaprakash Gowda (Organization), Dr BK Basavaraja Rajarshi (Spirituality) and Dr KP Putturaya (Literature).
After receiving the award M Veerappa Moily, Union Minster for Law and Justice said that India should reach the peak of development along with its culture. “Change should take place in every aspect of life. All Indians are team players in the overall development of the country” he said. Dr D Veerendra Heggade said the event will be fruitful if at least one percent of students cultivated interest in Kannada literature.
Vaidehi, President of Alva’s Nudisri said: “We need determination and enthusiasm to build our motherland and culture. The Nudisiri helps to fill enthusiasm in the minds of people about Kannada literature and culture”. State Minister for Higher Education VS Acharya, MLC Ganesh Karnik, Ananda Alva, MLAs Abhayachandra Jain, Srinivas, Gopal Bhandary, former minister K Amarnath Shetty and Jayashri Amarnath Shetty were among those present.
Dananjaya Kumble compeered the program and Venugopal Shetty Kidoor proposed vote of thanks.
