Mumbai: Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri – 2013 Mumbai Unit Inaugurated

Mumbai, 18 Nov 2013: The inaugural ceremony of Mumbai unit of Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat – 2013 and Alvas cultural extravaganza was held at S M Shetty Pre-university College campus, Powai, here on Sunday November 17 evening.

Mumbai University head of department of Kannada Dr Taltaje Vasant Kumar presided the function, while the senior Kannada litterateur Dr Sunita M Shetty inaugurated the programme.

Karnataka youth service and fisheries minister K Abayachandra Jain was the chief guest of the occasion.

Dr Sunita in her inaugural address said that she was privileged to inaugurate the programme, as Alvas Nudisiri and Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri will help in sustaining the cultural hierarchy of coastal Karnataka for the future generation to foster, said Dr Sunita.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vasant said that Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri will create a history of sort in the Dakshina Kannada district.  One wonders, whether Dr Mohan Alva single handedly can do wonders in taking Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri to the global audience.  When Kannada, Kannada culture and motherland Karnataka are at cross roads; Alvas Nudisiri indeed given a new lease of life by artistic display of Karnataka cultural hierarchy, said Dr Vasant.

 

Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri – 2013 Mumbai unit president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty said that the coastal residents settled in metro are involved in fostering native culture and hopes Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri will promote unity in diversity.  The education is incomplete without culture.  The Tulu – Kannadiga will contribute their mite for the success of mega Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri 0 2013, said Shetty.

Hundreds of talented students of Alvas Education Foundation ® Moodbidri staged variety cultural extravaganza on the occasion.

Alvas Education Foundation ® Moodbidri chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, Mumbai unit honorary president Ajekar Shivaram Shetty, chief secretary Surendra Kumar Hegde, Dr M S Alva and Lalita S Alva and others were present on the dais.
Dr Mohan Alva delivered the introductory address and honored the members by presenting mementoes. 

Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.  Uday Kumar compered the programme.
