Udupi: Vishwa Nudisiri Aims Confluence of Folk Artistes & Art Enthusiasts; Dr Mohan Alva

Udupi, 11 Aug 2013: The folk artistes from across the nation and overseas had to come to our abode.  The people who patronize literary and cultural programmes had to be increased.  The objective of Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat is confluence of likeminded people interested in cultural exchange, said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation, Moodbidri.
Dr Mohan was speaking at the inaugural Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat – Shirva unit, near here during the function held at Mahalasa Narayani temple auditorium, here on Saturday August 10.

Nearly 5 lac representatives from across the nation and overseas, are likely to attend Vishwa Nidisiri Virasat that will be held in Moodbidri from December 19 to December 22, said Dr Mohan.

Bellary entrepreneur Suresh Shetty Gurme after inaugurating Shirva unit, lauded the yeomen service of Dr Mohan as cultural saint, because the latter has set an example to the world by fostering folk art.

 

 

Shirva – Our Lady of Health parish priest Fr Stany Tauro in his presidential address said that art and culture is not limited any caste and religion.  It has capacity to unit the mankind.  Its owing to the visual media, the new generation is disinterested in art and culture, said Fr Stany.

Vedamurti Kenja Sridar Tantri, Shirva gram panchayat president Hasanabba Shaikh, Mumbai – Sri Krishna Palace proprietor Krishna Shetty, Shirva – Bunts Sangh president Prakash Shetty, Billawa Sangh president Prakash Palame, Mahalasa Narayani temple priest Harish Acharya, folk artist Tukra Panara, renowned Yakshagana artiste Kolyoor Ramachandra Rao were present at the dais.

Dr Mohan Alva honored sculptor Santosh Valadore during the programme.

Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat – Shirva unit honorary president Norbert Machado welcomed the gathering.  The social activist Ravindra Shetty Kollabettu honored the guests.  The unit secretary B Pundalika Marate compered the programme.  The unit president Babita Aras proposed vote of thanks.  The lecturer Ananta Mudittaya, H S Gopal and Sadashiv assisted in the programme.

The cultural extravaganza of both classical and western dance was staged by the students of Alvas Education Foundation on the occasion.
