Udupi: Ganeshotsav symbol of Mother Nature, fosters Communal Harmony - Alban Rodrigues

Udupi, 13 Sep 2014: Parvatidevi is the resemblance of Mother Nature bore Ganesha, while Shiva is the father figure shines like sun. The idol of Ganesha is man-made, while Shiva sustains both man and living beings. The love towards animals, devotion to duties, simplicity is the sign of contentment. The devotion of Lord Ganesha who blesses all beings on earth equally lies in nature and communal bliss, said Alban Rodrigues, administrator of Dandatirta education institutions, Kaup, near here.
Rodrigues was the chief guest speaking during the valedictory of decennial celebration of Ganeshotsav at Bantakal, near here on Friday September 12.
‘Ganeshotsav becomes meaningful if it ignites patriotism and instills moral values among the people,’ said Rodrigues.
Ganeshotsav Samiti president Chanchal Kumar, Shirva gram panchayat president Hasanabba Sheikh conveyed best wishes for the programme.
Bantakal Madhav Kamat who was the cause to begin the practice of public celebration of Ganeshotsav in Bantakal was felicitated on the same occasion.
The social activist Mary Martis, retired postman Vittal Moolya, night watchman Ramesh Arasikatte, Devu Maistry Nallottu Heroor were also honored.
The Samiti honorary president Shekar Poojary welcomed the gathering. The secretary Alwyn Saldanha presented the annual report. Dinesh Devadiga read the list of winners of different sports competitions. Madhav Acharya compered the programme.
Vedamurti Kenja Sridar Tantri led the Vedic celebrations during ten-day worship at Ganeshotsav.
