Mangalore: 3-Day Ganeshotsav begins at Bunts Hostel

Mangalore, 31 Aug 2014: Ganesha Chaturti fosters bond among the brethrens of different faith, caste and creed in the society. The festivities indeed give a chance to get a break from chaos of daily living, said Father Muller Medical College dean Dr Jayaprakash Alva.
Dr Alva was speaking after inaugurating three-day Ganeshotsav at Omkar Nagar, Bunts Hostel, here on Saturday August 30 morning. It was jointly organized by Siddi Vinayak Pratistan and public celebration of Ganeshotsav Samiti.
Colonel A J Bhandary after hoisting the flag said, ‘The service to the nation is a noble deed indeed,’ said Colonel Bhandary. He appealed to Bunts community to join to serve in Indian armed forces in large numbers as community has proven leadership qualities and courageous, appealed Colonel Bhandary.
The retired engineer Beliyoorguttu Vittal Rai after distributing the new paddy-sheaves said that Bunts community hail from farming background and lauded the mass distribution of paddy-sheaves on the occasion. He reminisced about joint family that thrived till a few decades ago.
Yashodha J Bhandary, Surekha J Alva, Bellippady Ratnasabha V Rai, Ganeshotsav Samiti president Ulipadyguddu Rajesh Naik, chief secretary Divakar Samani, treasurer Krishnaraj Sulaya, trustee Raviraj Shetty, Buntara Matra Sangh vice president Somashekar Shetty, secretary Meghanat Shetty and others were present.
Siddi Vinayak Pratistan managing trustee Ajit Kumar Rai Malady welcomed the gathering. Sharat Shetty Padupalli and Satish Shetty Kodialbail compered the programme. The Samiti joint secretary Sasiraj Shetty Kolambe proposed vote of thanks.
