Udupi, 15 July 2023: India’s voice is now being heard loud and clear at the global state and not only its voice being heard hard, India’s stature abroad has also grown manifold, Finance and Corporate Minister of Union government Nirmala Sitharaman.

 

Addressing an intellectual meet organized by the district BJP at the Country Inn on Friday, July 14, Nirmala Sitharaman said that on India having becoming the fifth largest economy in the world, she said that it was a big achievement for an emerging market country to beat an economic power like other developed countries.

 

She said that what makes Modi government’s nine years even more noteworthy is the fact that everything was effectively achieved in six years, as three years were lost to the pandemic and Ukaraine war. She said that even though there were such problems, the Union government succeeded to provide every fundamental facility to the people of India.

 

Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Modi government has focused three topics that seva, inclusion and improvement of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). She also mentioned the great success of the government’s drinking water coverage and Ujjwala scheme under which as per government numbers, 9.5crore families have benefitted so far. 80 crore people were given free foodgrain and some pulses for two full years, she underlined.

 

 

She said that we have focused on empowerment of the poor and the middle class people through MSMEs and given much importance to MSMEs. Importance has been given for the exports of products manufactured by MSMEs. A outlay of Rs. 22,138 crore has been earmarked for MSME sector in the budget and the government has always worked for the development of small scale industry and MSMEs are the backbone of India.

 

As far as the taxation is concerned, a lot of improvement has been seen in collection of direct income tax and only people who earn up to Rs. 7,27,000 will pay income tax to the government. Under Janaushadi Kendras, the cheap prices medicines will be available for the needy in alleviating of the condition of the poor.

 

During the occasion, she responded and given reply to the various category intellectuals. Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, POWER, ABVP, Chartered Accountants, Business Management students asked their views to the minister and some are given appeals the minister.

 

Earlier Kuilady Suresh Nayak welcomed the gathering and Finance Miinister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Meanwhile, District BJP members felicitated finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the occasion.

 

Uday Kumar Shetty, Mangalore division BJP in –charge, Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Kundapur MLA, Yashpal Suvarna Udupi MLA, Raghupathy Bhat former MLA, Mahesh Takur President of Udupi City Block, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde former President, Pandurang Shenoy President of Intellectual wing and others were present on the dais.

 

Balakrishna Muddodi of MIT compared the programme.
