Bantwal, 16 Oct 2021: A head constable (HC) riding his 2-wheeler passed away in a head on collision with another 2-wheeler at Neralakatte, near Moorje at the limits of Pilatabettu, near here on Friday, October 15.
Abubakker (48) serving as HC at Punjalkatte police station, near here who is hailing from Marody at Venur passed away in a ghastly accident.
Abubakker was returning to Punjalkatte police station after attending a function at Vamadapadav, near here along with his colleagues, when his bike collided with another bike ridden by Durgaprasad, a native of Irvattur in Moodbidri taluk. Durgaprasad was fatally injured who was admitted in a private hospital at Mangaluru city. Abubakker’s colleagues were travelling in police jeep on the same route when they stopped at the accident spot. They picked up both the injured in their jeep and were on their way to state-run Hospital at Bantwal town. They had to take both the injured to state-run hospital at Bantwal as nearby primary health center (PHC) at Punjalkatte was closed owing to Dasara.
Meanwhile, when the police jeep ferried both the injured to state-run Hospital at Bantwal, the doctors there pronounced Abubakker was brought dead. Had he got first aid at PHC, there were some chances of recovery. It’s apathy that the said PHC in many incidents in the past found to be of no help to the accident victims.
It’s tragic that Abubakker’s colleagues had to witness his death within a few hours after attending the function.
Abubakker is survived by his wife and 3 children.
