Mangaluru, 03 Sep 2020: A lady from Bengaluru has filed a complaint in the women’s police station here, accusing a police constable of winning over her trust by promising of marriage, raping her, and then going back on his promise to marry her. The accused in the case happens to be Sayabanna (30), a constable attached to the district armed reserve police contingent here. A case stands registered in this connection.
Sayabanna is from Basavana Bagewadi in Vijayapura district. The lady has said that when she persisted with the demand for marriage, Sayabanna as well as a person named Ramesh Gowda from Bengaluru had posted threats to her.
Sayabanna reportedly came to be known to the lady on Facebook. Sayabanna visited Bengaluru on May 20 for discussions over marriage and she was raped the same day, the lady claimed. She also said that she was asked to come to Mangaluru where she was raped again in the official quarters on June 12. She claims that the constable refused to marry her thereafter. The woman also said that Ramesh Gowda threatened her of filing a case against her.
