DC instructs officials to take necessary action on controlling malaria, dengue

Mangaluru, 16 Jun 2020: DK district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh instructed the health officials to sensitize people on malaria-prone taluks such as Puttur, Beltangady, Sullia and Bantwal, at the onset of monsoon.
DC Sindhu was speaking during the meeting of health officials on controlling malaria and dengue held at DC’s office, here on Monday, June 15.
The stagnant water should not be allowed to stagnate near school and children’s nurseries. The landlords should take action as not to let rain water to accumulate in building terraces as stagnant water is the ideal breeding spot for viral diseases.Guppy fish should be released in stagnant pond as it breeds faster and kills mosquitoes. The notices should be issued to scrap shops that are negligent in maintaining cleanliness in their yards, said Sindhu.
The municipal body ought to create general awareness among the people by carrying out mobile health campaign on malaria. As the schools and colleges are not reopened owing to Covid-19 and online classes are being held; 2-minute clip of video on cleanliness and hygine should be screened before beginning online classes, added Sindhu.
ADC M J Rupa, DHO Dr Ramachandra Bayari, malaria control officer Dr Navinchandra Kulal and others were present.
