Puttur: Workshop on Consumer Awareness at St Philomena College on Dec 17

Puttur, 14 Dec 2015: The department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, district consumer disputes redressal Forum, department of legal meteorology, district federation of consumer organizations, department of women and child development and Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College here will jointly organize daylong workshop on consumer awareness at the College silver jubilee memorial hall, here on Thursday December 17.
Asha Shetty, president of district consumer disputes redressal Forum will inaugurate the workshop.
DK district Deputy Commissioner (DC) A B Ibrahim will preside.
DK zilla panchayat CEO P I Srividya, DK district federation of consumer organizations president M J Salian, St Philomena College campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, will be the chief guests of the occasion.
In technical sessions, Sundar Poojary, deputy director of department of women and child development will speak on awareness on harassment of children and women; Timmarayappa, assistant controller of legal meteorology will speak on false weights and measures; Dr Nityananda Pai of Puttur will deliver a talk on misleading advertisements and Raghavendra Rao, advocate of Suratkal, Mangaluru will speak on awareness of women consumers.
The members of selected Stree Shakti self-help-groups of DK district will participate as delegates in this workshop.
