Puttur: St Philomena College embarks on Swachh Bharat - 2015 on Gandhi Jayanti

Puttur, 04 Oct 2015: To commemorate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the students of PG studies in Social Work, Economics, Computer Science, UG studies in Social Work, the members of Suraksha Consumer Forum, NSS, Rovers-Rangers and Eco Club of St Philomena College. here participated in ‘Swacch Bharath-2015’ organized by town council here on Friday October 2.
The students have visited the houses in various places of municipal council - Sampya, Mottethadka, Mukrumpady, Kemminje, Sanjaya Nagara, Samethadka, Darbe, Parladka, Golikatte and created awareness on environmental values by distributing pamphlets which are supplied by CMC. They also collected information from the people about the waste management by using questionnaire. About 500 students of St Philomena College took part in this Mission.
Earlier, this Abhiyan was flagged off by Fr Dr Antony Monteiro, campus director of the College at Centre for Research and PG Studies, St Philomena College here.
In his message, Fr Dr Monteiro said, ‘To accomplish the vision of Swachh Bharat, everyone should have a mindset to keep the surroundings clean.’
The town councilors Mohammed Ali, Deeksha Pai, Naveenchandra Naik, Shaila Pai, Balachandra, Vinaya Bhandary, health inspector Swetha, the College vice principal Professor Vishnu Bhat, conveners of various clubs and associations, faculty members were present on this occasion.
The coordinator of PG studies in Social Work Professor Prasanna Kumar welcomed the gathering. The director of Suraksha Consumer Forum Professor Dinakara Rao compered the programme.
