Folk games enthral Udupians

Udupi, 19 July 2010: It was an enchanting experience with clay as the day offered fabulous treat of clay games. Famously known as ‘Kesarugadde Aata’ in this region, the Tulunadu folk games organised at Alevoor near here brought back the reminiscences of olden days when such games formed all sorts of entertainment in rural areas.
The games that were played on the occasion included volley ball, tug of war and various other athletic events. The occasion was the amalgamation of old and modern as the people involved in the rural sports belonged to modern era. In these days, where one can hardly get the glimpses of rural sports, ‘Kesurugadde Aata’ was indeed a memorable experience.
Participants comprised of all ages and competitions were held in four categories, viz., men, women, boys and girls. Everyone enthusiastically took part without giving much importance to the outcome. The event was inaugurated by Alevoor Gram Panchayat member Harish Kini.
