Udupi: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo Conveys Deepavali Message
Media Release
‘Let light bring hope to Humanity’
Deepavali, the festival of light that brings hope to humanity has arrived in our midst. The light is a symbol, while each one should be like a light that brings hope to fellowmen which is the ultimate goal of human life.
It’s the occasion to ponder over the freedom struggle waged by our forefathers against the imperial forces, in celebrating the freedom by bursting firecrackers, sharing joy and happiness with brethrens in the society. Deepavali that is being celebrated for 3 days, beginning from Chaturdashi, Laxmi puja and Balipadyami, implies 3 key aspects, that is freedom, joy and happiness, brotherhood.
Deepavali celebration lies in triumphant of good over evil. When human virtues conquer the evil, its role is restricted. Every individual should make an effort to lessen the evil character in seeking the divine to dwell in his/her heart that would radiate the spiritual bliss, when the ego and evil are shunned. The festival inspires one to help fellowmen like a candle that shine till the last bring hope to others.
‘None places the burning lamp under the bed or covers it, instead its placed on lamp-stand, to bring light to everyone,’ Likewise, we should be embodied with good character, in order to bring inner light to others who will follow us.
Best wishes of Deepavali to all the people of this land. Let the festival of light bring hope to mankind.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi Catholic Diocese.
