New Delhi, 08 July 2010: Engineering colleges in Karnataka can go ahead with the admission process as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday gave the green signal to start the process according to the 2009-2010 seat matrix. Counselling will commence from July 14.
However, there will be approximately 1,000 new seats from the seven new institutions this year, which will be added to last year’s 36,524 seats, a state official said. The AICTE has issued the necessary letter of permission for engineering colleges to start the admission procedure.
“The AICTE has given us the go-ahead with the condition that last year’s seat matrix should be followed. All the 24 colleges, which were earlier stopped from starting admissions, and 19 institutions, which had partial deficiencies, can now go ahead with the process,” he said. Officials will work overtime to make up for the lost time in starting counselling and the admission procedure.
