State to hike aid to Special Schools: Minister Jain

Mangalore, Jan 21, 2014 : The state will grant aid to special schools that are functioning in the state with effect from this year, said state youth service and sports minister Abayachandra Jain.
The minister Abayachandra was speaking after paying a visit to St Agnes Special School, Bendore, here on Monday January 20.
‘The state authorities are granting each special school Rs 15 lac each, while provision will be made in the coming budget to hike the aid,’ said minister Abayachandra.
The top achievers in sports will be presented a cash award of Rs 1 lac, added minister Abayachandra.
The minister Abayachandra further said that synthetic tracks are laid in 8 different locations across the state. The maintenance is essential. At this backdrop, landscape will be developed alongside the synthetic track with sprinkler facility, said minister Abayachandra.
‘There is huge demand to develop sports grounds and its maintenance in the state, while it would be taken up with the assistance of local administration, added minister Abayachandra.
Cash awards to talented cricketers of special school
The minister Abayachandra while on his visit to St Agnes Special School, Bendore, here presented a cash award of Rs 65,000 each to Mohiuddin Taj and Dayanil Saldanha, who are the student of same school and represented India in special cricket tournament held in Australia recently. Besides, he also presented a cash award of Rs 25,000 to their coach Narayan.
