Students made to clean schools on Day One
DHNS
Kolar, 28n May 2010: There was very poor attendance of children in government schools on Friday when the schools reopened after the summer vacations.
But those who happened to attend the school on the first day had a chore to be gone through. They were made to clean, sweep and swab the class rooms and the school premises. In the school at Kataripalya, students who came to collect their transfer certificate were asked to clean the school premises. At PC colony school, teachers joined the student in cleaning.
The Block Education Officer had instructed teachers to decorate the school and give a warm welcome to the children, their parents and SDMC president on the reopening day. But neither the children nor their parents turned out on the day. Teachers who arrived late also failed to decorate the schools. Many private schools in the city, however have been functioning from past one week.
