All set for SSLC examination

Mangalore/Udupi, 31 March 2010: The DK district administration has made all arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of SSLC examinations which will commence from April 1. 

The district has 95 examination centres and 33,236 students are appearing for the examination. Six centres in Mangalore city have been identified as hyper sensitive.

At a preparatory meeting held under the presidentship of Additional DC Prabhakar Sharma and ZP CEO P Shivashankar, officials said that the hyper sensitive centres in Mangalore include Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar, Ganapathy PU College, Hampankatta, Government PU College, Car Street, St Gerosa High School, Jeppu, Capitanio High School, Pampei High School, Urwa.  Of the 33,236 students, 29,498 students are regular students. Of which, 17,156 are boys and 16,080 are girls. As many as 877 students are repeaters. A total of 2,232 students are writing the examination privately.

Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj will head Mangalore revenue sub-division team, while Zilla Panchayat CEO P Shivashankar will head Puttur revenue sub-division team. In addition, six other teams have been set up at the block-level.

MCC joint commissioner will head the Mangalore taluk-level team, Assistant Commissioner will head Mangalore revenue sub-division, Moodbidri and Bantwal taluk level teams, and the Assistant Commissioner, Puttur revenue sub-division, will head the Puttur, Sullia and Belthangady taluk teams. All these teams will report to the DC on a daily basis about any examination related incident.

These vigilance squads will ensure that there is no examination related malpractice in the district. The DC has also imposed prohibitory orders within 200 metre radius of examination centres on all examination days up to April 9, the day examinations conclude. Photostat shops in the vicinity of the examination centres have been directed to close 30 minutes prior to start of examination up to end of examination.

The prohibitory orders will not affect official functions being held in the area nor prevent officials to carry weapons for discharging their duty in the centre.

In Udupi

About 17,695 students are appearing for SSLC examination in Udupi district. Of which, 8,279 are boys and 8,512 are girls.  As many as 904 students are writing the examination privately. For the private students, Cicilys school, Board High School and Girls Junior College will be the centres.

The district has 57 examination centres. A total of 14 clusters have been created for urban areas, said DDPI Mahidas. Squads have been constituted to avoind any malpractices in the district.
