Mangalore: Konkani singer Wilfy Rebimbus remembered

MANGALORE: Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Monday described senior Konkani singer Wilfy Rebimbus who died here on March 9 as “a multi-dimensional personality.”
Addressing a gathering at a mass condolence meeting organised in memory of late Rebimbus here, he said the late singer was a social reformer through his music. He was a singer, composer, playwright, poet and a writer, Mr. Moily added. The Minister said the late singer reformed the mindset of the people through his compositions and music.
Describing Rebimbus as a creative personality, he said creativity had no limits. “Creativity is like a circle which has no end. Hence, the journey of Rebimbus continues. He kept golden footsteps in the world of Konkani music,” Mr. Moily said.
K. Amaranatha Shetty, former minister, said Konkani music had received a blow with the death of Rebimbus. “It is a great loss,” he said.
Ivan D’Souza, convener of the organising committee of the meeting, requested the Mangalore City Corporation to name the road in between Father Muller Hospital at Kankanady and Koti-Chennaya Circle after Rebimbus.
