Beautiful poem. Took sometime to undestand it but loved it.

I was away on business and when I open Joy Lobo s poem, I was pleasently surprised... it attracted so many comments. Due to my association with Kavitha Fest, few poetry work shops managed attend at my leisure, I am able to understand kavitha to some extent though I may not be able to create one! Congratulations joy! Keep it up!! I really liked some opinions and suggestions which may help Joy in his future poetry work.

Dear Mr Mudartha, i appreciate your comment on Joy Lobo s poetry. This poem gives me wast imaginary thinking and opens minds eyes. if we meditate on this poem, really it gives immense meaning and knowledge of life, Mr Joy Lobo, you have done a great job i appreciate your thinking, your parents are blessed to have you.

There were comments about Leaders not supporting youth develop their talents in arts. As already asked: who are the leaders of Belle? Are you still pointing at the priests in Church? If that is the case you have not grown up enough. (I don t mean to refer to anybody in particular). What I mean is, that for Belle YOU ARE THE LEADERS. Bellevision is the leader. Priests do their role along with Parish Council. You guys come up with ideas and training programmes for youth in the areas of arts. Can you put together all the good stories and poems from Suvaad and bellevision and publish in book form? At one volume each every year? If you do so and arrange literary festivals every year inviting expereinced writers like Na Di Souza, Dr. Willie D Silva and some authors from Kannada to speak of the techniques of writing? Don t go for the stock people who will have nothing new to say. Get people from other language backgrounds and teaching experience. This is my suggestion. If you publish these youngsters works, more will be envouraged. Arrange programmes to read and criticise poems, movies, novels etc. These are thea activities that can help. You are the leaders. Don t forget.
Samuel Sequeira, Kanaradi, Moodubelle Thu, June-25-2015, 3:15

Someone reminded me about Joy’s poem and the kind of reactions it has evoked from readers. First of all I must say, if a poem can evoke so many variety of feelings and reactions then it is quite a good poem, irrespective of what someone says. As for difficulties in understanding a poem, one should know that it a typical genre in literature which sits between prose and visual arts. If prose is much more obvious in what it means, visual art is, often, the most abstract. Poetry sits between the two. Hence, by nature, not every imagery used or the meaning meant by the author can be understood completely. Most of the time art is interpreted according to our own personal life experiences and psychological projections. ’Bhuk’ may evoke our childhood days of poverty as Rony mentioned in his comments, or anger for having to suffer it due to our parents drunkenness or landlord’s oppression. As for Sannu’s claim that only those who can write understand a literary work, that is a false defense, because once the work of art is in the public domain, the author and what he/she meant is irrelevant. What the reader makes of it is the truth of art/poem. Joy s poem deservs apreciation.

Valerian Lobo, Moodubellle Thu, June-25-2015, 1:49
I saw many big lengthy comments on this issue but i haven t seen any comments from Sabhi Sir V. D souza E D souza?
Philip Mudartha, Navi Mumbai Wed, June-24-2015, 3:20
More than forty years ago, I have written critical essays on English Poetry in order to pass my university degree exams with distinction. Yet, I am still learning to appreciate contemporary English as well as Konkani Poetry. Since my youth, poetry has found innovative forms beyond traditional rhyme, rhythm and meter. I grew up to loud intonations of Ye Mhojyaa Jezu, mhoji kaakluth kar; kartholoi mhunn paatyetaam.. The poetry in it drilled in me the idea that Jesus can be counted on to show mercy on sinners. This poetry of Joy Lob, like that of well-known Konkani poet Sannu Monis, moves beyond a poetic idea to the visual imagery of a poetic idea, in this case hunger. The poet could limit to a single imagery which would be easier for a laymen to understand. But, Joy exercises the poetic license, and presents several images of hunger. At times, contradictory to each other: prefixing the female gender(tem) to (always open) and moving on to genderless roving eye of a married but bored lover and so on. The final imagery of a grown up child hungry for motherly love gets a make from in reader s mind only because Joy is a male. What if a female poet wrote these lines?
shwethal, bangalore Mon, June-22-2015, 7:14
Dear Joy, nice poem. wish you all the best.expect more and more poems from you.
Sannu Monis, Boliye., Belle / Dubai Sun, June-21-2015, 12:54

Joy wrote a meaningful poem about ’Bhuk’ no use? No good comments? What about the poetry here? No encouraging words for him? It’s really shame on all of us, because of one person, who is hiding his own identity and commenting his own views and our all other readers like me are defending our belle! Wilfred and Ronson, (no one knows who he is) you are commenting about belle writers. I want to ask a question to you Mr. Ronson, who are you? Tell something about you... What is your contribution on Literature? Do you really know how to read the Poetry? What is Poetry? What is the leadership? Your comment on attitude.. whom your are addressing this? You don’t have that attitude? If you are from belle, then why you are waiting and whom? Do some ground work for that.. Whom you are addressing these comments? Its shame on you dear Ronson you don’t know what and where to write your comments it was about Joy’s Poem if you don’t have good words, just read and forget. Don’t bring unnecessary and unrelated arguments here. Appreciate his good work.. Encourage him to write more You know writing a story easier than a poem? Baptist mentioned some belle writers names, my name is in that list. I know myself, I know who am I. my pen name is representing Boliye. I am proud for that. "Small time writers.. thinking as professional writer" let me know, how we can get that degree for professional writer ? I never thought is am a big writer did you ever read my poetry book that I published in 2012? .. I want to ask you Mr. Ronson and Wilfred Did you ever conducted any poetry sessions for belle people? Did you ever conducted any carrier guidance training for the belle people? Did you ever contribute to SUVAD? Did you attended Kavitha Fest 2012 held in Ronald’s house? Did you supported our Kannada medium school centenary celebration? Did you contributing school children’s education? Are you aware how many weekly, monthly, quarterly papers are there publishing in Konkani? Are you subscriber for that? So, please requesting you all next time if you don’t have good suggestions to improve a writer, don’t comment with your non related comments on literature issues you don’t have idea what to write and where to write¦

VVS, Belle Sun, June-21-2015, 9:52
Dear Joy Lobo, wonderful kavitha. hatsoff to you, short lines, limited words, but touched with meanings
Ronald Casmir DSouza, Dubai Fri, June-19-2015, 11:46

I am really surprised to see Ronson Aranha named person saying ’kundo Kelyak’ Addressing to me. Dear Ronson, since I know who you are please do not think you are from a Royal family, because I and you come from same family back ground where both of us were eating KUNDO once upon a time even though you think you eat ’UNDO’ now. But your mentality is not like a UNDO eating person. But even though according to you I eat KUNDO, I have guts to publish my opinion with my own name but I feel pity on you!. Because when everybody of our friends come to know who you are.. your situation will be a ’HINGU THINDA MANGA’.

Ronald Casmir DSouza, Dubai Thu, June-18-2015, 9:53
Very well said Babuti...! I will give my full support to organise a function on 31st December.
Ronson Aranha, Dubai Thu, June-18-2015, 7:59
Ronald Casmir Dsouza, there is connection between the poem and the lengthy comments. Connection is there as long as you understand it. Baptist Sequeira understood the connection and hence please read his comments atleast. There is a saying in konkani KUNDO KELLYAK UNDYACHI ROOCH KAINCHI ?
Ronson Aranha, Dubai Thu, June-18-2015, 7:53
Baptist, I am happy that finally you have realised what I was saying in my earlier comments. Yourself saying there is no program in Belle even on a new year day whereas youngsters of Marne could organize something. Belle people went home from church, had few shots and slept for the night. Also yourself saying there need to be meeting of old and new writers and this will improve the situation of Belle. This was what I was saying, Hope you also realised it now. But the big question is who will bell the cat. You being the ex president of Bellevision asking which Bellevision to take lead. If you do not take initiative in organizing such an event how we can expect from others. Take the lead and organise something very interesting so that people will support such activities
Lawrence Aranha, Dubai Thu, June-18-2015, 6:00
Ronson you are the one who woke up now. Dont dare to point out Belle people. If you have guts you lead in front and we will follow you rather writing here nonsense comments. First and foremost important is that you have to takeout your negativity and think positive. There you will find a success or else your whole life will go on with your Thingies.
Valerian Lobo, Moodubellle Thu, June-18-2015, 5:28
Wilfred Sir you said May God save Belle and its sleepy people not only that, looks like B/V sleeping, compare to some years back and now lot of difference.
Ronald Casmir DSouza, Dubai Thu, June-18-2015, 4:14
Nice poem by Joy...I expect many more in future.Keep it up.secondly I ask Mr. Ronson what is the connection here to the poem and your lengthy advice?
VJD, chennai Thu, June-18-2015, 1:37
All the best joy....super kavithe
Baptist Sequeira, Moodubelle Thu, June-18-2015, 12:56
My dear Friends of Belle, last year I was in India for new year. Since present generation is not brave like us, they do not want the new year mass at midnight… so by 9 pm it finished. The a party was organized by Lions Club and some people went there… But I and my friend Rony went to all the places to see the celebrations and felt very sad that in Belle not even a orchestra or event was not organized because even in Marne locals boys had a nice event, drama. Bellevision is BIG donor for church but are not capable of holding a good new year event to our people… May be a drama or concert… Shall we plan this 2016 a good program? We Kanaradi, Arbi , Marne people have planned a Yakshagana from Kateel – Sree Devi Mahathme on Jan 2 in Kanaradi… You all are welcome!!! so shall we plan an event for new year 31st Dec?
Baptist Sequeira, Moodubelle Thu, June-18-2015, 12:40
Dear Vikas, I apologize for not mentioning Dr. Eugine name… But at least you have reminded so that we could not missed out. But if we check Suvad of Belle (not like Ronsab who did not even read old Suvad) there have been nice articles, poems and stories have come but since our Belle could not notice them, we have no clue of those old poets and writers. Eg – story – Gompar…. We have not read any stories after that from this writer… Like one boy from Marne (Nazreth) writes superb poems, Dyanett Sequeira from Pernankila… Now Melissa Rebello, Nikitha Rebello and Anceeta D’souza (many more)… and one beautiful poem written in Suvan 2004 August vol by Cynthia Castelino… We have to have a forum to keep old and new writers together at least by gathering once a year. Charlie Dattu can be the best host because this times his articles is the best and his brother Victor can be a best guide to us because he is a wonderful writer. Even Raphael Master is best.. So I request instead of Bellevision donating money to students who never even have a curtsy to say thanks or wish Bellevision, we shall spend money on good events… let BV host good programs like these..
Valerian Alva, Kattingeri Wed, June-17-2015, 11:33
As Valerian Fernandes said, looks like this Ronson is newcomer to Belle and writing something which he is unaware. Or may be he is not writing his real name. Anyhow it is an eye opener for us and we need to put more efforts in poetry and such creative fields. We have good people as suggested by Baptist and need to encourage such creative people to do more.
Ronson Aranha, Dubai Wed, June-17-2015, 10:44
Now I know that Belle people are alive atleast. Thank God. Do not sleep and go through the comments once again and see where we are lagging behind. It is always difficult to accept once mistakes and failures, but when we accept then only we can improve and move forward
Francis Dsouza, Dubai Wed, June-17-2015, 12:21
Joy is such a wonderful guy I know him since birth including his parents And Pukkam. He wrote a wonderful Poem but I strongly feel Ronsan is taking his personal grudge here in this website. Ronsan needs to consult with doctors. Rather encouraging Joy he goes out of the topic. Crazy guy!
Godwin, Moodubelle Wed, June-17-2015, 8:24
I feel writer is saying that whoever you are, whatever is your situation, whatever is your bhuk , bhuk makes you helpless and weak. As Victor said someone else may find different meaning of this poem. And there lies the beauty. @ Ronson, as my name was mentioned by Baptist, I need to ask this: Who told you that small time writers act as professionals? I know all of the people mentioned and no one is like what you said. Writing is creative art and one need to have that creativity. Otherwise everyone would have been a writer or poet or an artiste. I feel you are beating around a wrong bush!
Valerian Fernandes, Abu Dhabi Wed, June-17-2015, 7:44
Dear Ronson, I thought that some coward ghost writing by changing the name and knows zero about belle because either Ronson not from belle or not lived in belle (I tried to locate you in facebook.... But your profile not found, or any Ronston existed in Belle).... otherwise he was may be in his own world, now a days migrated to belle or living in reality. Please tell me your vado or whose batch u were studied, in order to let you know who are belle writers... Come on wake up brother, you can do lots of good work through Bellevison, show your true identity and work hard for the betterment of Belle. Don’t hide your face behind the bush. Looks like Wilfred Dsouza is your brother....
Vikas Belle, Moodubelle Wed, June-17-2015, 7:07
Nice poem Joy.keep writing all the best...Ronson and Wilfred, your comments are not matching in this poem better you go to right channel and you will get right answer...instead of commenting nonsence.Baptist Sequeram i agree with your straight forward comments but you forgot to write our main writer Dr.Eugine Dsouza coz today bellevision.com is alive and very popular because of one and only Dr. Eugine.
Avil Dalmeida, MOODUBELLE/DUBAI Wed, June-17-2015, 12:40
Dear Ronson, Can you take the leadership to change the Belle people. Please come forward. We will support you.I think you know everything. You are the GOOGLE of Belle. Please guide us.
Ronson Aranha, Dubai Tue, June-16-2015, 10:29
Thanks Baptist, atleast you have shown some concern for discussion. You have pointed out few names from Belle, except Dr.Norbert Lobo all are part time once in a blue moon writers. I dont want to take any individual person name here but remember all the small time writers think they are already professionals and never cared to encourage and train the youngsters. All are busy in their own world. Is it not these so called leaders moral responsibility also to train the youngsters. Just go through the Suvaad parish magazine since last 2 to 3 years. It is filled with usual messages from Priests, Parish council members, reports and 60 percent pages with advertisements. Is there any quality literary work you can see in Suvaad. Just take some time and simply compare our Suvaad with parish magazine of Pamboor parish and you will be shocked to see the contents and standard they have set. Problem is that we Belleans this we know everything and we are best. We do not give a damn to these areas and do not take anyones suggestions. Its time to look at our own created mess first
Baptist Sequeira, Moodubelle Tue, June-16-2015, 3:22
@Wilfred Dosuza.... For writing a poem you are blaming the leaders... Who are our leaders? Can you explain whom you are pointing? Listen we have plans of opening a swimming pool. Separate timing and coaches for ladies and gents... Would you advice your children to join? We have plans of having VLCC programs and personal grooming classes for ladies and beauty parlor owners... would you send you wife and sisters to attend? (fees will be there), we have plans to have talks on Insurance, investments, meditation etc... would you join.... Tell me your interest... then I and you discuss... Dont just blame ...
Baptist Sequeira, Moodubelle Tue, June-16-2015, 3:13
If some one do not understand the meaning of a poem... humbly if he asks the meaning, that is not wrong... But some time our characters or feelings or out past experiences come in terms of writings or poems.. so may be in one angle reader might have asked... Because the poem starts with Hunger for sex... (sad that marriage connected to hunger of sex... ), then in between it touches hunger of some one and finally love of mother... So what the poet wants to bring out the message I also could not understand ... But a humble question to Mr. Ronson... Have you read Sannu Monis’s poems? Have you read Godwyn D souza’s poems? Have you read Norbert Lobo s articles, Samuel Sequeira s articles, Fr. Charles Menezes’s articles, William D sa s articles, Cynthia Castelino s poem? Botam Boliye articles? Have you tried to write any poem or article? Have you tried to translate any story to poem you read in any other language into Konkani or Kannada? If you have done… please publish… otherwise do not cry for Belleans… Because in Belle good architects, designers, project managers, poets, stage actors, writers are born and live… but they may be busy in life today...
Valerian Fernandes, Abu Dhabi Tue, June-16-2015, 1:13
I read the above poem 2-3 times, still fail understand the meaning... can you explain Joy, which type of hunger you are talking about??
Ronson Aranha, Dubai Tue, June-16-2015, 12:41
One reader is asking meaning of poem written by Joy Lobo. Its good to ask always and I appreciate the reader. But at the same time this shows the poor state of our interest in literature and creative fields at large. This is what Wilfred Dsouza highlighted in earlier comments, this is the poor state Belle. Our youth are good in making jokes of others and insulting others. They think they know everything and no one can question them. They will go to any extent even humiliating and fighting with others. Belle need a big change in attitude. Unless we admit our mistakes and humble ourselves, we will keep on asking these questions. We built big houses, we use costly vehicles and we spend lakhs on ordinary events just to show off. But we miserably failed in building healthy community and leadership. Just show me one good poet, writer, leader, artist, singer ...... we are a big zero and the situation is deteioriorating day by day
Victor Castelino, Boliye/Dubai Tue, June-16-2015, 12:10
"Pee bathunda pili edurath" is a saying in Tulu. What Joy is trying to convey is that "hunger" has no shame. To satiate your hunger for sex you made the matrimonial vows; when you see another woman you go after her. Those who make fun of the people who go hungry were made to beg when they encountered hunger due to natural disasters. It is your mother who makes you sit on her lap and provides you food come what may. That is what I understood from the poem. May be other readers have different explanations and that is the beauty of a poem.
Rupert Mathias, Doha Sat, June-13-2015, 10:11
Joy we wish to see more and more poems from you. You have good flair of writing, continue with zeal. God bless you

Very well written Joy. Keep up the good work. I read your poems regularly in POETICS. You are going a good job. You will only improve here on.
Wilfred Dsouza, Moodubelle Sat, June-13-2015, 8:48
Vijay you are right. Belle is good in partying, spending money and show off business. But a big zero in literature, arts and music. Every one is expert in commenting and showing others mistakes. We are good in boasting ourselves and making fun of everyone around us. Alas our leaders are also sleeping, our children do not get training in these creative areas. Everyone is busy in their own world and busy in dirty politics. May God save Belle and its sleepy people

Ronson Aranha, Dubai Sat, June-13-2015, 7:12
Nice thoughts and good writing style Joy. You know the art of poetry. Please continue the good work as today there is not even a single good poet, writer, artist, singer in Belle. We talk big big but miserably failed in these areas due to the neglect by our leaders.
