Boy beheaded by schoolmates in Pune

Pune, 11 May 2010: In a gruesome incident, minor boys in a school in Pune brutally murdered their classmate by beheading him and throwing his head in a river.

The body of Abhishek Ghorpade, a Class VIII student, was found hanging from a tree by some boys who had gone to play cricket. Abhishek’s body was later identified by his family.

Police have arrested one of his classmates who has confessed to the crime.

Abhishek, according to his parents, had left home on May 5 evening saying he was going out to buy a cake for a birthday party of one of his friends and would be back late.

But when he didn’t return, the parents filed a missing complaint with the police. After investigating the case, the police zeroed in and detained Abhishek’s classmates.
