Mangalore, 30 Jul 2014: The Muslim brethrens across the city celebrated Eid Ul-Fitr with grandeur here on Tuesday July 29. The special prayers were offered in different mosques including the historical Idgah masjid and exchanged Eid greetings.
Children in their new festive attire added colour and joy to the celebrations. The lull in rains indeed helped brethrens to greet each other after the prayers.
Speaking on the occasion, the state health minister U T Khader said, ‘After 30 continuous days of fasting and sacrifice, today we celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr. The days of penance and good will does not end here but will continue for the rest of life. Today, we donate our hard earned savings to poor in the community, to enable them to celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr with their families. It has made us to realise the agony of hungry people who are not privileged to have their daily food. I convey my Eid wishes to all in the state.’
The aroma of special lip-smacking delicacies engulfed Muslim households. Biriyanis, Kheer, Kebabs and several other sumptuous preparations are kept ready for the meals and dinners.
The faithful do not just pray for themselves, but it is in unison that they pray for world peace and well-being of all. The Muslim brethrens in Dakshina Kannada district have specifically shown the way for world brotherhood by praying at the Masjids, specifically for peace and harmony in crisis struck Gaza. They bowed down and called upon intervention of Lord Almighty to bestow peace in the world.
