TRIO students raise fund to help Government School

Bangalore, 25 Jun, 2014 : Three girls from TRIO World School - Hayeon Kim, Jieun Lee and Eden Daniel recently initiated a community service project to raise funds and help 230 underprivileged students at Kodigehalli Government School. They opened a food stall to raise funds at the campus with active participation from parents and the school staff. They managed to collect around Rs. 70,000 by selling various food items. They purchased shoes, various stationeries, sweets etc for all the students from the funds collected.

 

“I was surprised and taken aback when I saw people on the street begging for food and money here. I always thought that if only they had sufficient money their problems would end but over a period of time I realized that money wasn’t the only factor for their disparity”, says Hayeon Kim, a student from South Korea.

 

 

 

“We prepared a newsletter and circulated it among the students, teachers and the staff to inform them about the cause of our project. We set up posters, and even personally met many of the parents who came to the school. We set up donation box and received good response,” says Eden Daniel.

 

TRIO has also adopted the Kodigehalli Government School now and funded the school to provide improved educational and infrastructural facilities like class rooms, toilets, drinking water, equipments and materials, & training programs, infrastructure and maintenance and repair of school premises etc.

 

“Community initiative is an integral part at TRIO. A large section of society still suffers and do not have the basic amenities. It’s important for us to come forward and make their contributions as only education can lead to development of society. The enthusiasm and perseverance showed by our students towards this project needs to be applauded for,” said Mr. Naveen K M, Managing Director TRIO World School.

 

 

 

“Despite many hurdles their unparalleled dedication and willpower did not allow them to step back and they succeeded. These girls set an example to the society to come forward and do their bit to help the needy,” adds Naveen.
